The Republic of Leverchelle was once an integral part of the Kingdom of Reynesse. However, its separation from Reynesse was not a peaceful endeavor, but rather a result of a tumultuous history shaped by external influences, particularly the Kingdom of Scytheld to the north.
Long ago, Leverchelle existed as a prosperous province within the Kingdom of Reynesse. Its fertile lands and strategic location made it a valuable asset, providing resources and trade routes that contributed to the wealth and power of Reynesse. The people of Leverchelle, though once content under Reynesse’s rule, began to yearn for greater autonomy and self-governance, with the influence of nearby Äälar who chose to emigrate there from the Confederation having a greater sway on politics.
The catalyst for Leverchelle’s separation can be traced back to the Kingdom of Scyltheld, an ambitious and expansionist realm known for its fierce warriors and strategic prowess. Seeking to expand its dominion, Scyltheld set its sights on the rich lands of Leverchelle, seeing an opportunity to control vital trade routes and access untapped resources.
Amidst growing tensions between Reynesse and Scyltheld, the people of Leverchelle found themselves caught in the middle. They saw an opportunity to break free from the grip of Reynesse’s monarchy and forge their own destiny. In a daring move, Leverchelle’s leaders rallied their forces and formed a coalition with Scyltheld, joining forces against the common enemy.
The ensuing conflict was fierce and arduous, with Leverchelle’s inhabitants fiercely defending their land against Reynesse’s armies. The war tested the resilience and determination of the Leverchellians, who fought with an unwavering spirit and an indomitable will to secure their freedom.
After years of bloodshed and struggle, Leverchelle emerged victorious in 101 AF, successfully repelling the forces of Reynesse and securing its independence. The Kingdom of Scyltheld, recognising the bravery and resilience of the Leverchellians, honoured their alliance and pledged to support their newfound sovereignty in exchange for a tributary payment.
With their independence won, the people of Leverchelle set out to establish a new order—a republic founded on principles of self-governance, justice, and progress. They embraced their unique identity, drawing inspiration from the teachings of the elves and the pursuit of knowledge and harmony with nature. Leverchelle became a bastion of enlightenment, attracting scholars, artists, and intellectuals from far and wide.
This was short-lived however, brought under the control of the Empire of Poseia, the republic was reintegrated back into Reynesse in order to control the province easier. However, following the great fracture, the region was granted the right to hold a plebiscite, in which they unanimously voted to return to the republic. This time, fully free from the influence of foreign powers.
Though their separation from Reynesse was born out of conflict, the Republic of Leverchelle seeks to maintain peaceful relations with its former homeland. Over time, diplomatic ties have been established, fostering trade and cultural exchange between the two nations. While the scars of the past remain, the people of Leverchelle strive to build bridges of understanding, acknowledging the shared history and the need for mutual cooperation.
Today, the Republic of Leverchelle stands as a testament to the resilience and determination of its people. Their journey from being a province of Reynesse to an independent republic was marked by struggle and sacrifice. Yet, it is their indomitable spirit and unwavering pursuit of freedom that have shaped Leverchelle into a land of progress, where the ideals of self-governance, justice, and enlightenment are cherished and celebrated.
