Description

Brechilinn, the City of Waterfalls, embodies the movement of water in its very architecture. From the Moonwell of the Great Temple of Alleyar flows every stream and cataract that cascades though the city's numerous arches and out into the enchanted forest beyond. The air is thick with spores and magic here, as even the surrounding woods and mushroom groves are a gauntlet of illusions and flickering portals designed to misdirect and confuse. The people of Brechilinn--many of them students of the mystical arts-- are graceful and thoughtful, ever seeking to move with the flow of water and magic around them. Many fairies and elves call this corner of the Hercyn Wildwood home.

The Great Temple

Brechilinn is the home to the Great Temple to Alleyar, god of the Second Moon and Magic.

Demographics

The population of Brechilinn is primarily comprised of Fairy and Elf.

Weather and Landscape

Brechilinn sits in an ancient magical forest with lots of small pools of water and waterfalls. One notable feature is an abundance of mushrooms and spores in the air. The weather is temperate and mild.

Aesthetic

Brechilinn takes its inspiration and influence from the Enchanted Forests of European folklore, the elven realms of Rivendell, Lothlorien, and Mirkwood with garb that favors long, flowing robes, form-fitting tabards, and dresses of blues and purples and floral or swirling motifs.

Industry/Economy

Pre-Cataclysm Brechilinn was a primary exporter of exotic fruits, rare mushrooms, Quantum crystals, potions, and alchemical ingredients. The Enchanters of Brechilinn are experts in exquisite forms of enchanted jewelry and accessories. Brechilinn was considered rich by any standards during its time as part of the Kingdom. Post-Cataclysm Brechilinn has dramatically changed to be more self-sufficient due to its isolation, developing more sustainable food sources and textiles.

Government

Brechilinn has always been governed by a magocracy, with the most powerful spellcasters serving as the Grand Duke or Grand Duchess. Historically the Grand Duke or Duchess was chosen based on their ability to stabilize the errant magics of the forest. However, with the woods now completely out of their control, the Grand Duke or Duchess currently govern Brechilinn by coordinating with the Twiceborn through powerful Divination magic. In light of the isolation brought about by the Cataclysm, the headmasters of the Halls of Lore work closely together under the Grand Duke or Duchess to try to devise a way out while also using their magics to continue the survival of the city.

Primary mode of transportation

Magical portals, anytime one walks between two trees it may act as a doorway, those that aren’t familiar with this or know how to navigate it often end up lost.

Is this Enclave Fallen?

Brechilinn is not fallen. Illusions were long how the forest maintained independence and kept unwanted visitors away, but as the Bloodless lack most senses only powerful transposition magic that physically diverts hordes have kept the woodlands from being overrun; after the Cataclysm this magic became wild and no is able to navigate the woods anymore; they end up back where they started. The Enclave is completely cut off as a result.
