Estilmor, the City of Shipwrecks, stands defiantly overlooking a notoriously stormy stretch of sea known as the Drownyard. The Great Temple of Orlene rises as an immensely tall lighthouse warning passing ships, lest they share the grim fate of the many rotting wrecks in the rocks below. Although their primary duty was rescuing sailors and salvagers from the sea, ever since the Cataclysm, the city's Stormwatch have also been tasked with defending the Enclave from "the Drowned" attacking out of the depths. Estilmor's people are grim and dour, forced to be like the stone weathering the storm. The large populations of dwarves, elves, and orguls is a testament to their grit.
Estilmor is the home to the Great Temple to Orlene, god of Storms and Strength.
The population of Estilmor is primary comprised of Ogruls, Elves, and Dwarves.
The landscape of Estilmor is mostly comprised of rocky coastline with some high cliffs and sea caves. The weather here is exceptionally stormy, with high winds and even higher chances of lightning strikes. It has not stopped raining in Estilmor since Orlene’s relic was removed over 100 years ago.
Estilmor takes its inspiration and influence from the Medieval Baltics, early Slavic, the Men of Laketown and other "northern" fishing communities, with garb meant to withstand relentless rain and wind like heavy cloaks and oil-skin boots.
The economy of Estilmor relies heavily on trade and fishing, but some try to make their living by diving the wrecks and salvaging in the Drownyard to recover lost cargo and treasures. The shipwrights of Estilmor are known for making the most resilient ships in all of Tellus.
Estilmor has been a feudal barony practically since the foundation of Erden. The barons historically claimed all lands and waters "touched by the light of Orlene" (i.e. the lighthouses of the Estilmor Cape). To administer this storm-tossed domain, the barony relied on a number of knightly vassals: the "land-knights" who were granted manors and estates in the hinterlands, and the "sea-knights" who were entrusted with coastal tracts and captaincy of the barony's ships. The barons have attempted to exert the same authority over the lighthouses and their attached holdings for generations, but the wick-priests of Orlene have largely maintained their independence. This has been a point of contention between the nobles and the priests even after the Cataclysm, especially given the barony's paramount duty of protecting and maintaining the Great Temple.
The people of Estilmor travel via ships and ferries along the coast and across inlets, with causeways further inland.
Estilmor is not Fallen. Estilmor's primary defense is The Stormwatch, a dedicated fighting force that fends off “the Drowned” (the Bloodless crawling out of the sea, especially from the wrecks along the craggy coast).
