Anicent Past

When the first human migrants entered the continent, some of the Valäälar (Äälar), seeing their lands settled by these invaders, sought to bring their destruction through the use of dark magic. In doing so, these peoples were slowly transformed into the short-lived Ogkan as their bodies were corrupted into this new form.

Undeterred, the Ogkan fought several wars with the humans across the continent, but found themselves ultimately defeated, with only a small amount of suvivors escaping the persuction of the paramount Auresians. Some fled into the forests to die out or keep small clans that existsed on banditry. Others however, fled as far south as they could into what is now the nation of Őhürszág, turning the once fertile land into a dry and inhospitable place through their continued effort to harness magic for their ultimately goal of exterminating the race of men. Here deep within the mountain ranges of Poseia lied the hidden race of the Ogkan, spending the millenia breeding and rebulding their kind, before they were united under the first High Chief Vynes, who established the Chiefdom of Őhürszág, home to the proud and fearsome Ogkan.

Rivallry with Cathringia

The Ogkan, now unified but without written language and little knowledge of the world outside their mountain homes were ignored, only occasionally spotted by other races when they came north to pillage and take their long awaited revenge against the race of men. But when the Cathringians arrived in 260 AF, they found their old enemy on their doorstep, threatening their land once again.

They watched as the Cathringians carved out their own empire in the region. And so, they prepared for the worst, building their defences and strengthening their population, ready to once again rally themselves against their mortal enemies.

So, in the year 175 BF, the Ogkan emerged through the Schadwite Forest and laid waste to the southern reaches of Cathringia. However, the Cathringian counter attack was fierce and brutal, with the great city of the Ogkan, Urza, falling withing a year and Őhürszág being occupied the Cathringians, who enslaved the surviving Ogkan.

However, soon the Ogkan rebelled and expelled the invaders from their lands, promting the start of the Second Cathringian-Ogkan war, where the Ogkan once more, owing to their fast breeding and development rate quickly overwhelmed the Cathringian border defences and breached through the Schadwite forest, which became a battleground for a decade, until both sides found themselves in a stalement, and sought peace to revitalise their forces.

Two decades later, the Ogkan once more hoped to defeat the Cathringians, and marched into the forest that had been a battleground decades earlier. The Cathringians however, were prepared, and had spent the years between the war exploiting the coal heavy earth under the forest so that one spark would set the forest ablaze. As a result, the Ogkan invasion force found themselves in an eternal blaze within the forest, as the Cathringian cavalry chased them back into Őhürszág by passing through a previously unknown route in the mountains, where they established the fortress of Berg Holdt a few years later. Although the Cathringians were not able to occupy their lands once more, they did take many back to Cathringia to work their fields for the last few years of their short life-span.

Unable to launch an offensive through the forest, the Ogkan were at the mercy of the Cathringians, who a few mere years later, came through the mountain passage and quickly defeated the Ogkan forces and brought their lands and people back into their control.

Freedom

Years passed under the occupation of the Cathringians, and subsequent Empire of Poseia, where they were used mostly as slaves for manual labour across the Empire. While some did escape to create small clans, that terrorised the lands who had enslaved them, more were caught and executed.

Then, when the news of the death of Arecius I reached their ears, they rebelled. The Empire, in the chaos was unable to restore order and the Ogkan, for the most part, by any way they could returned to their homelands in Őhürszág, where the occupying forces retreated to focus on their internal affairs.

Those who remained in the lands of men, joined the small groups of clans made from ex-slaves, with some of those clans being brutally genocided once order had been restored in the lands of men.

Revenge of the Ogkan

For those that returned to their homeland, they have spent more than two centuries building their strength and waiting for the right moment to strike. And that moment finally arrived in the current year of 247 AF, when a powerful orc warlord named Cniva the Bonecrusher emerged from Schadwite, which while still burning, had become traversable, rallying the Ogkan tribes to his banner and launching a devastating campaign of conquest towards Cathringia.

With Cniva at their head, the Ogkan are proven to be a frightening force once again, wreaking havoc and destruction wherever they go. Their strength and ferocity have earned them many enemies, but the Ogkan remain undaunted, determined to seize their place among the great powers of Poseia and to defend their homeland from all who would threaten it.
