Scytheld was once home to vast ancient forests that rose up and down through valleys and hills for as far as the eye could see. However, the migrations of man had a signifcant impact on the natural ecological of the land, as each wave of migration reduced more and more of these forests, until from their remains, the land was dominated by high upland moors, with the old trunks of trees buried beneath the layers of peat and moss. The largest of these moors is that Mistag Moras, where the capital of Grenemor sits. These moors house vast resources of lead, tin and coal, whereas the peat can be put through a smelting process to produce iron.

To the north of this, remains one of the few remaining ancient forests, known as the Sceafwudu, translated as the Carved Forest, due to the vast amount of carvings dedicated to the Gods that are carved into the trees within. It is due to this reason that the forest has mostly remained untouched by axes, due to its religious significance.

Scyltheld is the home to two major rivers, the most important of which is the River Lēop, from where trading ships can sail up towards Grenemor, passing by the trading city of Eorade, home of the Urtharmun as they do so. The river ultimately flows to Old Eorade, a barren and ruined city, a victim of Valäälar in days long gone.

The other notable river is the River Frontôte which creates a border between Scyltheld, Leverchelle and Reynesse. The source of which, while not in Scyltheld, is fed by the numerous lakes that exist here. This river, has been frequently used by raiding Orkfjarric to reach the more interior parts of the Scyltheld, such as Roecester.
