The Peoples of Reynesse

Originally a frontier of the Auresian Empire, Reynesse became an independent realm after the fall of King Marus. It has since evolved into a land of chivalry and courtly tradition. While largely homogenous, the realm is bolstered by two loyal, distinct sub-cultures.

• The Reynessen (The High Chivalric): The dominant ethnic group. They have diverged entirely from their Auresian ancestors, speaking a unique tongue and prioritizing the codes of knighthood and honor.

• The Kerloretians (The Southern Traders): Located on the southern border, these people act as the primary trade link to the Gwylenn. Uniquely, they speak a language intelligible to the Yrwin, having adopted it to dominate the merchant lanes. Their folklore and cuisine are a blend of Human and Yrwin influence.

• The Orisians (The Lake-Folk): Dwelling by Lake Baible, these people likely originated from across the Tuntorva Mountains. Their language serves as a bridge between Reynessen and the Montelan tongues. They are the masters of the mountain passes and summer trade.

Physicality: Average height. Northern Reynessens are typically pale with blonde or ginger hair; Southern and Kerloretian folk tend toward olive skin and brown/black hair. Hazel and brown eyes are the most common across the realm.

Reynessen Naming Conventions:

• Male Names: Roland, Loin, Olivier, Tritum, Dash, Brune, Antoine, Marca, Louis, Hugh, Charles.

• Female Names: Margot, Marion, Brigette, Dagna, Luce, Josephine, Marina, Gisèle, Celine.

• Noble Surnames: Astamont, Saulet, Gérthier, de Broeliend, Foucher, Clarillot, Laurelle.

Kerloretian & Orisian Naming Conventions:

• Kerloretians: Often take Reynessen first names but may use "Gwylenn-styled" surnames or trade-inspired nicknames.

• Orisians: Their names often sound more "mountainous" or "Montelan," blending the hard consonants of the Tuntorva with Reynessen vowels.
