Aezhyrrael's fate is intertwined with Zhaine's intentions. he is a black-blooded lord rich with the night's touch and yet. and yet. he is not quite gifted. fated of his blood but he does not bear any of the gifts. why?
why must he fight for that which is owed to him? it must be a test. a feast prolonged simply; merely satisfaction awaiting him. what dark pleasure. what dark torment. how long must he wait for his throne.
he resents his kin who bear the eclipsed hair of Zhaine, or the eyes particolour at birth. those who dare to look at him subservient whilst bathed in His gifts. how dare they, how dare they.
in possessing Calix, the sight of the gift is an infuriating reminder. it spurs violence. a test, a challenge, or a reminder of failures his to bear. or perhaps his dominion over fate and Zhaine's blood even when his own soul was not branded.
his kabal is an extension of those devoted to Him and to Aezhyrrael's right to rule and bleed in His name.
the former Divine of the Black Rite is a traitor simply: undeserving, unworthy rival of Zhaine. a falsified deity better beheaded. better yet kept as a pain toy until he can no longer stand to live.
any kin are rivals. those blessed by His gifts are foes, in arrogance, or are subservient to Aezhyrrael's rule. his slaves all.
his connection to Valurn is as an archenemy. his connection to the blade Mornfeir is writ in blood.
the last wielder of the blade was dragged into the Hraen at the end of the Dark Days and lost.
in the abyss, it hears the whispers of ghosts across centuries. it has earned sentience for it and speaks to its masters in pretty promises.
Aezhyrrael himself is joined by blood to Zhaine or Zhaine's sire, who was one of the first eldar with the blackest night hair.
"If you intend to take Mornfeir from my hands, cousin, then you must rewrite the fate given to us with blood that was never yours to draw. I would drag us all to the depths eternal to keep it from you."
He snarls.
His brow hardens then and he grips the blade in possessed madness-- in ecstasy.
"As servant and prince of the oldest blood..."
Black claws draw the blade out, hand turning with grace.
Then tensing with a silent gasp as he sends the spotless steel against his own flesh, a thick line of pitch aether blooming over sickly skin.
Aezhyrrael's blood is written in the oldest of Draihari aether and is a relic of the Dark Days. He, connected to Zhaine in lineage, answers the call of fate and his Arch-Divine with ruthless ease. He would see all in ruin for Zhaine's bidding.
In his rule, all are prey. The unworthy are blood for Mornfeir's rule. None would dare question a son of Zhaine.
the kabal of the Black Rite is one of the oldest on Niskerra and is one of the first draihari Cadre formed at the end of the Dark Days.
its lords live in Helevorn and the slavers' cities, spread across some sister Kabals all loyal to Mornkhainen. their concerns are firstly with the business of all their kin and secondly then in.
the Black Rite's creatures
aezhyrrael needed a psyarch to brace all their minds against the elder fathom or he would be forced to risk a sorcerer's life into their very promised death - forced to rely on their own magic that cannot still resist the pull of the Fathom. a psyarch, on the other hand...
he is brutal, selfish, hedonistic. before Calix, he is as ruthless as all his kind.
it is in being soulbound to Calix that he learns something beyond selfishness. before this he was as cold and ambitious and solitary as any one Lord like him in not trusting others to share in his fate.
A slender hand pets him from hairline to tied hair tail before he stands a breath later.
His robes, magnificent, sparkling, shudder in a display of falling stars as he shows his teeth under a managed grin that barely creased his features.
“Your commendable appetite is noted. Pledge your Kabal, your magnificent blade, pledge that exquisite ruthlessness to my designs.”
Foremost, Aezhyrrael is a selfish beast. He would see all maimed on the path of his fate and concerns himself not with the intimate. Not with all that transcends somatic pleasure- reluctant to admit to admiration. Is it not the king languishing with wine who dies first to the blade in a consort's hand?
He was forced to look outwards when his psyarch Calix was given to him. They would not survive so far into the abyss or ever find the blade without his assistance; Aezhyrrael knowing of its existence, and yet in the wrong cardinal, the wrong resting place. All lost in time to eldar for all of them feared to cross the deepest Hraen to try and find Mornfeir at all.
It is a psyarch who will assist him -- a psyarch who will suffocate for him as he requires it. And who may be rewarded at the end of all things with power.
aezhyrrael's mind whorls between resentment, possession, pleasure, contempt. he enjoys the corruptible calix and feels complicated for their fate intertwined.
calix is pleasurable, exciting - bendable to his will and torture. exciting to corrupt. unusual and as innocent as high beasts come. he likes this.
resentment intertwines with violence and pleasure at seeing him writhe and in spreading his blood. in turn, in being indulged.
what was once envy, resentment, and disbelief is now bold possession.
in being soulbound to him, in bringing him to niskerra, aezhyrrael gladly feasts on his sensations and pleasures and fears.
sensation heightened and different with mroth'fli skin that can only tolerate so much shedding and letting before the agony would kill him and fry his nerves.
a psyarch that can repair his own torn flesh is an enticing thing and aezhyrrael gorges on being able to feel all of this pain and reparation through his aether
also in being soulbound to him, aezhyrrael was not prepared for the need of hyuron affection without insanity.
somatic bonding is insanity to the mind if not fed with wretched gauri affection.
in showing calix the depths of his world and its abyssal pleasures, he has found an appreciation only for calix's existence. that, as a hyuron, aezhyrrael enjoys their differences and in indulging him
being around calix makes him discover that he enjoys the exchange of gauri relationships. he loves the power plays, the exchange of objects and tokens, and giving things to calix in order to be indulged is quickly obsession.
he likes to be disruptive for attention only insofar as being inconvenient.
he thinks that tokens of affection are very stupid and it pleases him like few things when calix is happy with his new objects. he gets a sort of possessive, hyper-attentive pleasure from this.
he is obsessed with power play in the mundane- in forcing vulnerability upon his playthings, in mental torture, in doing nothing at all and everything at once.
he will never disclose any of this to calix himself. perish these thoughts.
Blinded him. The other a predator in taunting- in Divinity's skin worn over bestial anatomy. It was a perfectly heinous creation.
Blinded him. What they had come for that which he could kill. That this false visage bore his birthright?
The draihar's eyes were pinpricks into pinpricks in furious hunt. Wild at the sight of tainted blood and its irony. Its black envy. This he was aware of in mortal moments where he saw hands gesture for the mindblades' return. For a pistol at the creature's own belt.
It was profane.
Bound to one another, Aezhyrrael is tortured by his seer's bond. By the possession he feels for him and his willingness to defy the Arch-Divine himself in the face of salvation if it means to possess his gauri creature.
It was in fate that he was driven to keep Calix and in fate that he would own him and learn to please him. Gauri games are strange and playful for a mind bent on blood and destiny.
Bound in torment, it is into the abyss of his own mind that Calix stepped to proclaim his life against the Fathom. Into Calix's own soul did he look and take in trust.
Calix is his own to keep, and whose fate is his own to choose while bound to him. They are kept to one another no matter the way- and his heart and soul Aezhyrrael's to subsume at the end of all things. No matter the path, it must end the same. It must be that Calix dies, and no other can have him. Aezhyrrael will always be the one to claim the last beating flesh of his heart and the last pained breath from his mouth.
There can be no pleasure in their ending no matter their fates.
