Description

Dholrim, the City Under the Mountain, lies beneath the peaks at the western end of the Spine. The dwarves and burrowfolk of yore carved its halls from the rock to reflect the grandeur of the cavernous Great Temple of Xeros that stands there. To survive the ruin of the Cataclysm, Dholrim put aside its age-old feuds and made a deal with a powerful dragon for protection. Under their vigilant watch, the city continues to delve for the riches of the earth. It's people are fastidious and headstrong in their chosen pursuits, particularly metalworking and stonecraft. Many of the city's inhabitants can claim descent from those first dwarven and burrowfolk families who settled in its depths, and dwarven culture pervades every aspect of Dholric society.

Dholrim is the home of the Great Temple to Xeros, goddess of Knowledge and Craft.

The population of Dholrim is primary comprised of Dwarf and Burrowfolk.

Weather and Landscape

The lands around the city of Dholrim are part of the great mountain range that spans the length of the continent. Weather is that of a typical temperate mountainside. Some larger storms swirling off of the Tempest Coast occasionally reach these peaks, but such weather does not concern the citizens of the underground city much.

Aesthetic

Dholrim takes its inspiration and influence from Tolkien Dwarves and the Dwemer of the Elder Scrolls franchise, with geometric and Art Deco motifs adorning garb of angular profiles and metallic or gemstone adornments.

Industry/Economy

The primary exports of Dholrim are high value ores and gems, fine metalworks, and armor/weapons. During its peak prior to the Cataclysm, Dhlorim was also known to export high-quality stone across the Kingdom of Erden but the treacherous Shroudlands have prevented that from being viable. Those who used to export stone have instead adapted to finding and mining the vast Quantum crystal veins that have been found in the depths of the Mountain.

Government

The domain of Dholrim had been a formal kingdom long before the formation of Erden, and even after its rise, the Mountain Kings and Queens of the Enduring Peaks were still allowed to style themselves as such. This in turn led to the ruler of Erden becoming styled as the High King or High Queen. Under the Mountain King or Queen of Dhlorim, there is a traditional royal court and a nobility who are appointed to oversee various neighborhoods and holds as a lord would a fief.

Primary mode of transportation

The primary mode of transportation around the city of Dholrim is an extensive mine cart and cable car system.

Is this Enclave Fallen?

Dhlorim is not fallen. While the outside defenses of stone walls remained strong, the Bloodless emerging from the depths of the caverns below threatened to overwhelm the Stronghold. That was until an alliance was made with the Ancient Dragon under the mountain: Daedalix, the Emberheart.
