Lazarus Yoke

Black, Magitek, Necromancy, Tech, Void

The Lazarus Yoke is installed along the bearer’s spinal column and major nerve clusters, occupying the nervous‑system augmentation slot.
Lazarus Yokes act as the control rigs used in Cybernetic Zombies performance support when alive, and contingency reanimation using void‑aligned nanites on death.

Value: 10 Y

Constant Benefits (Living State)

Reinforced Nervous System: You can install one additional cybernetic augmentation beyond your usual category limits.

Lazarus Protocol (Contingency)

Trigger: While alive and wearing the Yoke, you would die from Hit Point damage (reaching the point of death per your game’s death rules) but your body is mostly intact.

Effect: A dose of black‑infused nanites floods your system, repairing gross trauma and converting major nerve bundles into control circuitry. Your creature type and traits shift: you gain the undead trait and void healing (you’re healed by void energy, damaged by vitality, and don’t benefit from vitality healing).

For the duration of your labor contract (GM‑defined, typically measured in weeks or a campaign arc), you are treated as a Lazarus Thrall (Cybernetic Zombie)under Basic Operating Instructions: mechanically, this functions like a long‑duration dominate or control effect keyed to your employer or rig owner, with orders restricted to your contracted labor role.

Release of Backup Consciousness

During installation, the Yoke continuously fabricates a consciousness backup and a contract script of operating instructions.

When your contractual obligation ends (or if the controlling authority relinquishes rights), the control layer drops and the backup consciousness is allowed to assume full control of the body.

You remain undead with void healing and the Lazarus Yoke still installed, but you’re no longer dominated; further contracts require explicit renegotiation or firmware rewriting.
