Description
A stretch of overlapping Rift currents where conceptual flows of Intention and Devotion cross at sharp angles, trying to pull different parts of a vessel along different routes. To sensors, it appears as ghosted duplicates of nearby currents and jittering positional returns.

Disable

Piloting DC 26 to plot a safe microcourse around the shear.

On a critical failure to disable, you blunder directly into the heart of the shear and immediately trigger its effect.)

Trigger- A ship, vehicle, or free-floating group of creatures enters the shear region or remains in it for 1 round while in the Rift.

Effect ⮌ The hazard activates and immediately attempts to tear the vessel and its occupants along misaligned current vectors.

All creatures aboard and any exposed vehicles or cargo must attempt a Reflex save against DC 15 as the hull and internal spaces lurch out of alignment. The pilot simultaneously attempts a Piloting check against DC 17 to keep the vessel coherent.

Critical Success: You brace against the lurch. No effect.

Success : You are jolted but keep your footing; you take a –1 status penalty to attack rolls, skill checks, and Reflex saves until the start of your next turn as you fight disorientation.

Failure : You are flung into bulkheads, consoles, or other hard surfaces, taking 4d8 bludgeoning damage and falling prone (or equivalent off-balance state in zero-g).

Critical Failure : You are violently shunted into an unsafe position—pinned under debris, halfway through a door, or separated from your squad in a different compartment at the GM’s discretion—and take 4d8 bludgeoning damage plus 2d6 additional damage of a type fitting the scene (e.g., electricity from sparking conduits).

Reset
The shear is a persistent feature of the local currents. It “resets” after 1 minute as the flows re-establish their overlapping pattern and can affect ships again.
