The island of Uzumzire, known as the Emerald Isle, is home to the Azāstār—a proud and formidable race of lion-like beings whose civilisation has risen from scattered tribes to imperial unity.
Long misunderstood by outsiders as little more than beasts, the Azāstār are in truth a deeply cultural and disciplined people, shaped by the diverse landscapes of their island—lush forests, open savannas, harsh deserts, and fertile coasts. Their history is one of survival, strength, and eventual unification under a single crown.
Since the rise of the King of Kings in 242 AF, the Azāstār have stood as one people—no longer divided by tribe, but bound by shared identity and imperial purpose.
The Azāstār:
The sole people of Uzumzire, the Azāstār are a leonine race defined by strength, pride, and loyalty. In ancient times, they lived as nomadic tribes, each led by chieftains chosen through prowess and wisdom. These tribal roots remain central to their identity, even after unification.
Though now governed under a central authority, remnants of the old tribal system persist in regional customs, military organisation, and noble lineage. Strength, both physical and moral, remains the foundation of status within their society.
Their unification under the legendary ruler Artaxerxes transformed them. Settlements became cities, tribes became provinces, and survival evolved into dominance. Today, they are as much builders and rulers as they are warriors.
Physicality: Tall, powerfully built, and unmistakably leonine. The Azāstār possess fur ranging from golden and tawny to deep brown, with darker manes common among males. Their eyes are typically amber, gold, or deep brown. Their imposing presence is matched by natural physical strength and endurance.
Culture and Society:
Azāstār culture is forged from both tribal heritage and imperial ambition:
Warrior Tradition: Strength and combat skill remain central to identity.
Imperial Unity: All Azāstār owe allegiance to the King of Kings.
Pride and Honour: Reputation and personal strength define social standing.
Though unified, they are not uniform, regional differences remain strong beneath the surface of empire.
