History

While the Äälar race who inhabit Lääval ń Sarańavaama (Confederation of the Golden Haven) are anicent beings. The nation itself is young.

In the ancient times before man took it’s first step on Poseia. A diarchy of the two brothers ruled in the mountain of Valäälar. For many centuries the two ruled together in harmony. However, an event now known in history as ‘The Split’ (6123 BF) occurred as the two brothers clashed and went their ultimately went their different ways. Some choose to remain under the eldest brother Kyost within the mountain of their ancestors, a plenitude of others followed the younger brother Eero out into the wider world to see what wonders they held.

Post-Split

The Valäälar (Light Ones/Kin), as we have known ever since the split, sought to spread out across Poseia, they first came into contact with the Yrwin. The two races allowed Poseia to flourish between them, with great forests composed of magnificent trees covering the continent. The centuries, if not millennia were kind to the two races as many Äälar set up their own communes with a variety of doctrines and environmental effects on their appearance. However, an unknown conflict arose between the allied Yrwin and Äälar and an invading force. The invading force brought destruction to the continent, burning the forests and ending the light of many of the Valäälar. Records of this period are extremely rare due to brutality of the conflict. However, historians have attempted to date it to the 5th century BF. Following many decades of conflict, the alliance of the native races of Poseia won out and began to regrow their forests. That was until the first humans arrived on the shores of Poseia. With fire in hand and heart the migration of humans slowly forced the Elves into smaller and smaller tracts of forest. For centuries the Valäälar have been lost more and more land as the humans continue to extend their reach until only Sarańavaama remains, a confederation of the Golden Haven, the Valäälar of the Fens and the sporadic Snow and Desert Valäälar living in the unclaimed regions to the North and South of Poseia.

Recent Years

In recent centuries the line of Eero has enjoyed a monopoly over the title, with the death of Eero (257 BF) during the final invasion of man still in the recent memory of many Elves with his son Veiyya the current Ethnarch who is in the 4th year of his reign. Jealous of the seemingly more successful brother, Kyost and those Hämäräälar (Dark Ones/Kin) that remained underground, have locked themselves away from the world, terrified of what lay beyond the great thick stone walls of Dölgyd, isolating themselves away from Poseia. The remaining elves of Sarańavaama have enjoyed a long life due to their blood being pure. This, in addition to their trouble history, has caused an isolationist society to development and, as such, they prefer to not intermingle with other races. There are cases of folk who have, but they are looked down upon by most elves. In fact, if one were to mate with one of the other races, their child would not enjoy immortality like pure blooded elves do. Long they would live, but death would be inevitable in the end.
