Rags to Riches

The Republic of Marezana is notable for being the second maritime republic to grace the Intemare Sea. Born out of the traders who were deemed to poor and un-notable to gain nobility in Portigoa, these traders founded the city of Calissara over 700 years ago in the year 500 BF on an unimportant archipelago that had mostly been used by Portigoans for shells that could produce a rich purple dye and was known for its abundance of shellfish that swam in its tidal coves.

Battle for Freedom

The Republic of Portigoa was not willing to let a new power rise and challenge their trade, certainly one not made up of upstarts.
