Long Beginnings

Before it was the republic, or even a member of the Auresian state. The lands upon which Alriè hold were once the heartlands of the civilisation known as the Chrysmereans, or the people who came before. Here they build great monuments to their God and shared ample trade with the nearby Vöräälyn within their mountain home.

Indeed, Alriè, of which the republic is named after was once a grand arena for warriors to showcase their skills and win honour and fame.

Scholars differ on what happened to the Chrysmereans, with some suggesting that they were exterminated by the Valäälar who they once called friends. Others suggesting that they sailed across the seas to land unknown. More recently, a scholar by the name of Lydos, has suggested that those who came before became some terrible fate and emerged as the Silerion, owing to the distictive similarities between the language that they spoke, and the few words that remain in the vocabulary of the Silerion.

Whatever their fate, by the time of the First Migration to Poseia by the Auresians, the Chrysmereans were long gone, and all that remained were their ruins. These ruins, provided the foundations for the Auresian cities of Genoresus, Alria and, Ravis. Albeit, these cities are now known under different names with the establishment of the Republic and the promotion of the Neauren language.

The Frontier

As the Auresians arrived in Poseia, they first landed in what is now Serdos, having sailed over the frozen reaches to the North. The consequence of this was that what is now Alriè was the last part to be settled by the migrators. Indeed, while this was once the centre of the Chrysmereans holdings in the continent, it was to become a frontier in the successor Auresian one.

Due to this, the people that lived here naturally became more distant over time and mostly occupied themselves. With the only natural enemy being the Vöräälyn, who were often more occupied with their mountain than the comings and goings of the First Migrators in the region. While the major Chrysmerean cities of Genoresus, Alria and, Ravis were refounded in this time. Slowly, but surely the early Auresians as they were then began to found their own in the deep uncharted forests beside the Törgdon Mountains. As the millenia and centuries passed, this region became more and more detached from the political heartlands of the Republic, Kingdom, Theocracy and, Empire of Auresia. In time, relations with the Vöräälyn were even normalised, and the famous Phandellus Pact was signed between the two, signifying a new relationship between the people, with work beginning on the now destroyed Äälkair Lujö deep within the mountain. For a time, this brought great wealth to the region, and the heartlands of the Kingdom of Auresia sent legions back to the region in earnest to restore their direct control there for the first time in centuries, hoping to exploit this new wealth. More cities were founded in region, such as Hispolis and the great castle of Rupesos was constructed to guard against any new foe, as rumours of a surviving Ogkan stronghold in the north began to spread. As in the darkness of the forest, they had retreated many milliena ago to avoid their final extinction at the hands of the human migrators who they themselves had once to tried to extinguish themselves.

As the prosperous centuries went by, all was well. Until one day, the Vöräälyn backed the Ogkan suvivors and they broke the Phandellus Pact, attacking them inside the forge and attempted to seize its riches and magic treasures for themselves. Before all hope was lost, human spellcasters defended the forge from them and the ensuing battled destoryed much of the forge and its location was lost to time. Hispolis, once a thriving settlement was sacked by the Ogkan, never to be repopulated, while the castle of Rupesos was taken. Only Phandellus survived, but lost its wealth and importance, and simply became a small settlement deep within the forest.

The Rebellion

Five hundred years passed in the region, and little much of note occured here, the former cities of the Chrysmereans continued to be the backbone of the region, and while the legions of the Kingdom remained, their patrols became less frequent and smaller in number decade after decade.

Rumours persisted however, of the lost Äälkair Lujö and its lost wealth, and a small group of adventurers entered the region under the instruction of a man known as Lurcio, who was under the employment of the University of Serdos, who for motives unknown, wished to retake the forge. On the other hand, the Ogkan, known as the Komor who had spent the past few centuries infighting were once again united under a cheiftain known as Asztrik sought to find the forge for their own orders from a figure known as the Black Spider.

This group of adventurers fought against the Black Spider and his lackeys and eventually uncovered the location of the Äälkair Lujö. However, in doing so, they were unable to prevent the forge from destruction, as their battle with the Black Spider brought the final destruction to the once wonderous forge. The Black Spider in his final moments, explained that his death was mearly the death of a pawn, as his masters would continue regardless of his failure.

These adventurers continued onto Alriè where they found the city in the midst of an uprising against their Auresian overlords, believing that their control over the region has grown weak, and that over the centuries, their culture had blossumed to a seperate ethnicity from the Auresian peoples. In this uprising, the Praelic was assassinated. This rebellion, under the orders of a figure known as Hippokrates and his group of followers, recruited these adventurers to their cause. With their help, these heroes of the republic fought against the final remenants of the Emperor’s forces and fought against the Praelic’s wife Marcella, who had taken over his role in the chaos. Having taken the vital Tower of Alture, which guarded the road into the region, preventing further reinforcements of legions into the region from the heartlands. As Marcella fought to regain control of the city, her forces were defeated by the famous fellowship and she was captured by Hippokrates. As crime for her actions, she was executed and the Alriè Republic was proclaimed.
