Characters
Torin of the Hidden Moon: Recovers his true name and recognizes Sethis as the ancient goddess of his Veyan people. His memories remain fragmented, but he restores part of her sanctuary by acknowledging death and thanking her.
Silas Palligref: Murders a guard who discovers that the attacks blamed on the mainland are connected to shipments from the Shattered Isles. Silas admits that the false story is meant to make Gavra fearful and easier to change.
Phineas Moon: Found gravely wounded when the party returns to the upper temple. He helps cover the party's escape and gives Normandy a final instruction concerning the tree and the heart beneath it.
Rue: The name given to a small shadow guardian found within Sethis's treasury. He remembers abandoning the goddess's light out of fear during the end of days but cannot recall his original name.
Ernan: Takes an ornate quill from the restored treasury and later helps rescue companions from the collapsing cavern.
Brill: Holds the treasury door, fights beside the party, and is struck by Bjorn after Bjorn's rage turns upon an ally.
Helena: Finds a jeweled scroll tube, sketches the unusual sacrificial statue, and discovers a Veyan skeleton within a sarcophagus that disappears after she feels a connection to it.
Vyr: Takes a distinctive glint that appears able to store darkness and continues carrying Nana through the temple battle.
Bjorn: Claims a watch that warns of ancient beings, battles the cavern bears, and turns upon Brill while overcome by his rage before Brill helps him regain control.
Normandy: Attempts to protect Phineas and hears the entity within him demand that he destroy Sethis's tree. Rue's presence in his shadow produces a violent physical reaction.
Whisper: Is pinned unconscious during the collapse but recovers and helps pull Ernan from the breaking ice.
Gods and Religion
Sethis: Ancient Veyan goddess of twilight. Her hidden treasury, sacrificial imagery, restored offerings, and threefold tree suggest aspects of her faith that were lost when her identity changed.
Eth: Modern goddess of new beginnings and the surviving incarnation of Sethis. The Arcanium suspected that Eth's familiar identity was not the faith's true origin.
Sacrifice of Death: A statue shows a woman offering her own death beneath Sethis's outstretched hands. Torin's recognition of death restores the statue and the hidden treasury.
Organizations and Societies
Arcanium: Its earlier research proposed that Eth was not the original form of the goddess. The discovery of Sethis confirms that suspicion.
Yore and Gander: Shipments bearing connections to the Shattered Isles undermine Silas's claim that Gavra's attackers came from the mainland.
Gavran Watch: One of its investigators uncovers the shipment discrepancy and is murdered by Silas before he can report it.
Creatures and Nature
Darkling: A being that has lost its physical form and feeds upon light. Rue appears to be one, though he retains his mind through his devotion to Sethis.
Panthex: Returns during the temple collapse, fights the bears, carries companions through the cavern, and drives the alpha bear back into the blizzard.
Triune Bears: Two huge bears and an even greater alpha attack within the temple and trigger its collapse.
Creature Beneath the Ice: An immense, luminous being with a squid-like head briefly rises from the lake as the companions flee.
Nana: Vyr's bat companion, fed fruit from Sethis's restored offerings before the temple collapses.
Items and Technology
Sethis's Treasury Glints: A pot holds about fifty glints. The group agrees that each current companion will take five and that Torin will hold the remainder for common use.
Darkness-Storing Glint: Taken by Vyr from Sethis's statue. It briefly darkens, draws at Vyr's inner darkness, and causes Torin's warhammer to resonate when the two touch.
Ancient-Warning Watch: A watch claimed by Bjorn that gives a heartbeat-like warning when something ancient is near.
Jeweled Scroll Tube: A sealed tube found by Helena, decorated with gems and hermit-crab forms. Its contents remain unopened in this episode.
Ornate Quill: A beautiful quill taken by Ernan from the hidden treasury. Its properties are not established.
Light Bender's Hat: Phineas's top hat is worn by Torin after Brill persuades Phineas to give it to him.
Helena's Statue Sketch: A drawing of the sacrificial Sethis statue, including the shadowy forms surrounding it.
Hidden Sarcophagus: A stone coffin holding a Veyan skeleton. It disappears after Helena feels a connection to the remains.
Magic and Cosmology
Phased Sanctuary: Speaking "death" and later touching Sethis's statue return objects, fire, color, and offerings that had ceased to exist in the ordinary world.
Rue's Shadow Merging: Rue can enter another person's shadow a limited number of times. The effect suppresses Torin's light and reacts dangerously with the presence inside Normandy.
Torin's Restored Identity: The threefold tree returns Torin's name and enough memory to identify Sethis and the Veyan temple.
Bjorn's Battle Rage: Bjorn's rage and ancestral visions overwhelm his judgment, causing him to attack Brill before Brill's appeal helps him stop.
Helena's Veyan Connection: Helena feels called toward the Veyan remains in the hidden sarcophagus, but the source and meaning of the connection are unknown.

Temple of Sethis: The ancient Veyan sanctuary within the Triune Mountains. Its restored lower treasury and threefold tree are buried when the upper temple collapses.
Caverns of Shadow: The mountain caverns surrounding the temple, now destabilized by the battle and collapse.
Gavra: Silas watches the city from above while describing fear as the instrument by which he intends to change it.
Shattered Isles: The true apparent source of suspicious shipments discovered by the murdered Gavran investigator.
History and Lore
Torin's Name: The identity "Torin of the Hidden Moon" replaces the temporary name Rue and reconnects him to the Vey and their worship of Sethis.
Sethis and Eth: The modern faith of new beginnings descends from a much older twilight goddess whose name and meaning were partially forgotten.
End of Days: Rue remembers panic, screaming, and being locked inside the treasury after fear led him to turn away from Sethis's light.
Silas's Manufactured Crisis: Silas knows the mainland is being falsely blamed for violence in Gavra and kills to preserve the deception.
Burial of the Temple: The bear attack collapses the sanctuary and seals Sethis's tree and remaining secrets beneath ice and stone.
