Episode 42: Blood and Death | Roll Seekers | Light of Tyve Campaign, Episode 42

Episode 42 Glossary

Characters

  • Arthas Ventrex Elutharis: Ylvis's son and commander of the unauthorized assault on Venfallas. He defeats his father, corrupts the Moon Lake, and claims responsibility for conquering the Evenari.

  • Ylvis Denell Elutharis: Chief of the Evenari and father of Arthas and Elendra. He loses his duel after hesitating to strike his son and is kept alive as Arthas's prisoner.

  • Aris Lantrosa: Arthas's companion among the Blood Sorcerers. She is killed during the assault but revived when Arthas gives her his blood.

  • Elendra Elutharis: Evenari survivor carried from Eilinor while dying from a blood-shadow sickness. Torrin removes the affliction, after which she appears far less connected to twilight.

  • Torrin: Rejoins two Crystallic fragments, survives opening the Tome of Stars, cures Elendra, and discovers how to lead the allied force through Venfallas one final time.

  • Vyr: Closes the Tome of Stars before it consumes Torrin and becomes its bearer, hearing a persistent static after the book takes an attunement.

  • Normandy Borthal: Fourth host of the Deathless Flame. He accepts Emrys's offer to ignite the allied army's weapons despite being warned about the flame's allure.

  • Emrys Valakar: Progenitor whose consciousness remains within the Deathless Flame. He tells Normandy that the flame's hosts are legion and grants him a single overwhelming use of its power.

  • Helena: Blood-bound prisoner of Acuras who escapes his presence, disables the machinery beneath Keph, and frees Demantrius.

  • Demantrius: Ancient Umtheran held within a sealed chamber connected to Keph's boiler system. Helena releases him at the episode's end.

  • Acuras: Lord of the Blood Sorcerers. He takes credit for Arthas's success, keeps Helena bound to him, and sends his full host against the arriving Harbingers and their allies.

Gods and Religion

  • Ithelias: Goddess whose surviving Grey Knights accompany the Harbingers after Calem's sacrifice freed them from their inherited oath.

  • Phaedras: Goddess of stars associated with the Tome of Stars and the Grey Knights' later faith.

  • Sethis: Power of twilight whom Torrin initially invokes while seeking a path into Venfallas, though no answer comes from her.

  • Belgor Vrack: Blood God whose Lifeless Blood sustains Acuras and his followers between life and death.

  • The Primarch: Ancient, possibly sacred founder figure represented at Tch'nev as a mortal warrior opposing dragons with a great spear.

Organizations and Societies

  • Harbingers of Light: Prepare the Tome of Stars for transport, save Elendra, open the last passage through Venfallas, and begin the assault on Keph.

  • Grey Knights of Ithelias: Roughly forty freed knights who sharpen their neglected weapons and march with the Harbingers against the Blood Sorcerers.

  • Evenari: Twilight people whose realm and immortality are bound to the Moon Lake. Only a diminished force remains able to join the attack on Keph.

  • Blood Sorcerers of Keph: Acuras's army of blood-bound fighters. Their fallen can be restored through shared blood until the Deathless Flame gives the allies a means to kill them permanently.

  • Lifeless Blood: Acuras's deathless lineage, sustained by blood and bound to the hunger of Belgor Vrack.

  • Eilinor Refugees: Survivors who flee the glacier's collapse and reach Tch'nev. Another faction returns beneath the ruined ice to serve an Argalus.

Creatures and Nature

  • Blood Sorcerer Harpies: Flying creatures within Acuras's host that descend upon the allied army as the siege begins.

  • Jackal War Beasts: Predatory creatures deployed among the Blood Sorcerers' ground forces outside Keph.

  • Blood-Shadow Sickness: Affliction killing Elendra after the corruption of the Moon Lake. Torrin extracts it as a tangible mass of bloody shadow.

  • Moon Lake Corruption: Blood spreads through the clear water like ink, transmitting sickness and mortality to Evenari throughout Venfallas.

  • Collapsing Twilight Veil: Failing natural and magical boundary that can carry the allied force once before breaking completely.

Items and Technology

  • Tome of Stars: Dangerous sacred book entrusted to the Harbingers. It overwhelms Torrin when opened and binds itself to Vyr when she carries it.

  • Crystallic Fragments: Two recovered pieces that fuse together when Torrin brings them into contact, forming the beginning of an angled larger structure.

  • Primarch's Spear: Ancient weapon depicted in the statue at Tch'nev and associated with a forgotten warrior who fought dragons.

  • Skeletal Shadow Dagger: Form Torrin gives the curse extracted from Elendra, containing its bloody shadow within a weapon-like object.

  • Deathless Weapons: Allied blades, spears, arrows, and other arms ignited with chartreuse fire so their wounds can permanently destroy the Lifeless Blood.

  • Keph Boiler Mechanism: Machinery beneath the keep that Helena disables before opening the chamber in which Demantrius is held.

Magic and Cosmology

  • Deathless Flame: Chartreuse soul-fire containing Emrys and earlier hosts. Its mass ignition grants the allied force a temporary answer to Acuras's deathless army.

  • True Death: Effect inflicted when a flame-lit weapon strikes the Lifeless Blood, preventing the fallen from being restored through another sorcerer's blood.

  • Tome-Bound Static: High, distant noise that Vyr hears after accepting the Tome of Stars, indicating that the book has magically attached itself to her.

  • Twilight Passage: Torrin steps across the weakened boundary into Venfallas and later holds it open long enough for the entire allied force to cross.

  • Evenari Immortality: Supernatural longevity sustained by the Moon Lake. Its corruption makes the Evenari mortal and kills those unable to survive the change.

  • Flame Communion: Normandy enters the soul forge within the Deathless Flame and speaks directly with Emrys and the memories of its former bearers.

Locations and Realms

  • Venfallas: Evenari Shadowlands hidden between realms. Its illusion burns away after the Moon Lake is poisoned, and its last veil collapses after the allies pass through.

  • Moon Lake: Vast enchanted lake at the heart of Venfallas that anchors the Evenari to their hidden realm and sustains their immortality.

  • Tch'nev: Former stronghold of the Grey Knights, now a refuge and staging ground for the march against Keph.

  • Eilinor: Northern settlement struck by the collapse of the Dragdah glacier. Its surviving people divide between flight to Tch'nev and devotion to the power beneath the ice.

  • Keph: Mountain fortress and domain of Acuras, visible from the failing Venfallas and attacked by the Harbingers' new alliance.

  • Dio Ostium: Sealed gate toward which the Harbingers still intend to carry the Tome of Stars after the crisis at Keph.

History and Lore

  • Fall of Venfallas: Arthas turns a limited infiltration into a full invasion, defeats the Evenari leadership, and destroys the enchantment that preserved their people.

  • Return of the Prodigal Son: Ylvis's hesitation confirms Arthas's identity and allows Arthas to defeat the father who once rejected him.

  • End of Evenari Eternity: The Moon Lake's corruption ends the Evenari's supernatural immortality and reveals that their hidden realm has always remained near Tyve.

  • Fourth Host of the Flame: Emrys confirms that Normandy follows three earlier bearers and that their lives remain joined within the Deathless Flame.

  • Last Crossing of Venfallas: Torrin carries the allied force through the realm as its veil shatters, leaving no clear path back to its former state.

  • Primarch Tradition: The oldest monument at Tch'nev names the Primarch as a founder of the order and depicts him fighting dragons with a great spear.

  • Return to Keph: The freed Grey Knights and surviving Evenari join the Harbingers in the first organized assault on Acuras's fortress.
