Acuras: Ancient ruler of Keph known as the Crimson Knight. He negotiates with Helena, presides over Belgor Vrack's annual rite, and survives an Evenari assassination attempt badly wounded.
Helena: Accepts Acuras's bargain to protect her companions and Stefon, agrees to compromise the Evenari well, and intercepts the moonlit arrow meant for Acuras. She ends the episode unconscious and near death beneath his hand.
Bran: Tribute prisoner raised to live cautiously like a carrot. He rejects that lesson, escapes through Acuras's stained-glass portrait, and awakens at home determined to become more than a farmer.
Brett: Teenage escapee who loses a hand to the dungeon's trapped door. After M mortally wounds him to prevent his blood from attracting predators, a tentacled prisoner pulls him into a cell and kills him.
Clifus O'Gara: Fatalistic prisoner who joins the escape and attempts to sabotage Keph's blue furnace. M pushes him into its radiance, which tears away his soul.
M: Apparent prisoner who warns the escapees that she cannot be trusted. She attacks the bleeding Brett and later reveals her betrayal by feeding Clifus to the furnace.
Wisp, Constantine, and Jhonk: Members of the prisoner group attempting to escape Keph's deliberately opened cages and shifting corridors.
Hank, Daki Jaytona, Sabiel, Samir, Celeste, and Henry: Six rebels who infiltrate the mountain ceremony to assassinate Acuras and disrupt the annual sacrifice. Several die, while the surviving fighters are extracted by the Evenari.
Belgor Vrack: Eternal Blood God invoked by Acuras as the righteous king of the Blood Sorcerers. The annual ceremony pours sacrificed blood into his bottomless pit.
Annual Blood Rite: Full-moon ceremony in which Keph's tribute prisoners are killed and their blood is offered to renew the power protecting Acuras's domain.
Eth: Divine power followed by the rebel Celeste, whose faith motivates her resistance to Keph.
Blood Sorcerer Doctrine: Acuras teaches that his people surrendered their souls and accepted monstrosity so that Keph could survive the Rusticulum and other threats.
Blood Sorcerers of Keph: Acuras's long-lived servants and the ruling power over Keph's tribute settlements. Their incomplete ritual causes barbed wings and shadowed mutations to erupt from their bodies.
Evenari: Hidden Twilight Folk resisting Acuras. They supply the rebels' moonlit arrow, fire the converging barrage, and teleport survivors away from the failed rite.
Keph Rebels: Small resistance supplied by a secret benefactor with weapons, training, and knowledge of the annual ceremony. Their mission is to kill Acuras or at least prevent the ritual.
Tribute Villages: Poor settlements protected from the Rusticulum by Keph. Each periodically surrenders a chosen person, while only village chiefs are permitted to enter and leave the fortress.
Keph Servants: Prisoners whose emotions and ambitions have been extracted into Acuras's crystal, leaving them gaunt and obedient rather than immediately killing them.
Blind Jackal Creatures: Pale hunting beasts used by Keph to track blood and pursue intruders. Two guard the mountain rite and attack the rebels when the assassination begins.
Tentacled Cell Predator: Unseen prisoner capable of extending a feeding appendage through its door. It drains and consumes the wounded Brett.
Bramble Hawk: Hawk killed by the rebels in exchange for the aid of a centipede colony. Its surviving chicks are left in the nest.
Mountain Centipedes: Colony that regards Acuras as a competing king and sends a small force to crawl beneath him during the attack.
Ravenous Feast Guests: Unseen beings released into Helena's abandoned dining chamber. Their screams and feeding reveal that the extravagant meal was prepared for creatures other than Acuras.
Black-Purple Vial: Dangerous liquid Acuras gives Helena to pour into the Evenari well. Its intended effect is not disclosed, but even touching it appears unsafe.
Moonlit Arrow: Luminous weapon supplied to the rebels by the Evenari. Once lodged in a target, it guides arrows fired from across the surrounding mountains.
Acuras's X-Crystal: Crystal worn at Acuras's chest and used to extract the dreams, emotions, and ethos of young prisoners, converting them into gaunt servants.
Blue Furnace: Alchemical apparatus within Keph that radiates soul-draining blue energy, grows crystals through its metal casing, and contains a living captive.
Ritual Blood Crystal: Coalesced blood suspended above Belgor Vrack's pit. It shatters when Acuras loses concentration, preventing the ceremony's completion.
Peacock Mask: Masquerade mask worn by Helena when Acuras presents her as his honored guest.
Helena's Wine: Rare vintage brought from her homeland. Acuras serves it at the feast and treats its origin as evidence of Helena's value.
Soul Extraction: Acuras's crystal pulls identity, hope, and aspiration from living captives without killing their bodies, producing compliant servants.
Furnace Radiance: Cold blue energy that strengthens M's appearance but rips Clifus's soul from his body when he touches it.
Shifting Castle Corridors: Keph bends distance and direction so that repeated turns return escapees to the same ballroom door.
Stained-Glass Escape: Bran passes through a window bearing Acuras's image and awakens in his own bed, suggesting that one prisoner did not belong within the night's game.
Sanguine Control: Acuras immobilizes multiple rebels, manipulates blood within their bodies, and draws it toward the ritual pit.
Evenari Arrow Convergence: Enchantment that bends a mountainside barrage toward the luminous arrow embedded in Helena and later Acuras.
Evenari Extraction: Azure-clad rescuers appear through space, seize surviving rebels and prisoners, and vanish with them before Keph's forces can finish the battle.
Blood Fortress of Keph: Acuras's ancient stronghold, containing decaying aristocratic halls, lethal dungeons, alchemical chambers, and the path to the mountain ritual site.
Keph Dungeon: Three-story cage complex holding tribute prisoners. Its unlocked cells initiate a deadly escape game staged for Acuras's court.
Masquerade Ballroom: Lavish hall populated by masked Blood Sorcerers. Its doors and corridors form a magical loop around the escaping prisoners.
Blue Furnace Chamber: Laboratory containing the crystal-producing furnace and the captive source of its unnatural energy.
Belgor Vrack's Pit: Bottomless opening at the center of the mountain amphitheater where Keph offers blood during the annual rite.
Evenari Sanctuary: Hidden grove protected by a sacred well. Acuras cannot see through its concealment and recruits Helena to infiltrate it.
Acuras's Long Reign: Generations of Keph's people have lived and died under the same ruler, though speaking openly about his unnatural age is dangerous.
Protection Through Tribute: Keph's villages tolerate the loss of roughly one person each year because Acuras keeps the Rusticulum and greater western dangers away.
Evenari Rebellion: Hidden resistance that disputes Acuras's inherited claim to Keph and seeks to replace his rule with equality.
Failure of the Annual Rite: The rebels' attack interrupts the sacrifice, shatters the gathered blood, and causes uncontrolled transformations among Acuras's followers.
Bran's Return: Bran awakens at home with physical evidence of the dungeon, proving the castle experience was neither an ordinary dream nor a simple illusion.
Acuras's Promise: Although Helena takes the Evenari arrow and suffers the ensuing barrage, Acuras reaches her after the battle and repeats his vow that no harm will come to her.
