The Calendar of Ignisar "CAI" is the standard system of timekeeping used across most of the continent, particularly within the nations of the Sevenfold Commonwealth, South of Bristlefur Highlands, Kingdom of Concordia, Borealreach and The Soarlands. Other nations may hold different standards, yet are aware of this Calendar system.
Its structure and naming conventions were popularized after the Therianthropic Convergence, and is largely based on the original Arnewynd's Calendar System that was popular during the The Era of Strifes. While this calendar is nowadays widely adopted, some older races may still use their original, traditional names for the months.
An year on Ignisar is divided into 12 months, each consisting of exactly 30 days. Each month is further divided into three weeks of 10 days each. The people of Ignisar typically do not name the individual days of the week, instead referring to them by their numerical order within the month, such as "the 1st" or "the 15th". An odd exception exists for the second day, often referred to as "Tuesday" or "Twosday".
The dating system is centered around the Therianthropic Convergence, which is what commonly referred to as Year 0. Years are designated as either A.T.C. (After Therianthropic Convergence) or B.T.C. (Before Therianthropic Convergence).
The turning of seasons in Ignisar is seen not as a simple shift of weather but as a great wheel of balance, guiding both nature and the hearts of mortals. Spring is the breath of renewal, Summer the pulse of abundance, Autumn the quiet reflection before decline, and Winter the embrace of stillness and endurance. Across races and lands, every season holds its own stories, trials, and sacred times, woven into the fabric of life through festivals and traditions.
While the cycle of seasons is recognized across Ignisar, its expression varies greatly by region. In the Kingdom of Concordia, the climate remains warmer year-round, softening the bite of winter into mild rains and extending harvest periods well into late autumn. In Borealreach, however, winter holds the land in its grasp for most of the year, with short summers that are all the more cherished for their fleeting warmth. The Soarlands, lying further east, are defined by their humidity, where storms and mist are constant companions regardless of season, shaping a culture that thrives in wet climates and sees rain as a gift rather than a hindrance.
Flourish: As Last Year's cold starts to fade, new life sprouts from the grounds, ideal time to sow. Fields are alive with the sound of animals returning from winter's rest. Farmers and gardeners eagerly prepare their lands, hopeful for a bountiful season ahead.
Stormsheart: The time of year with the most rain, known for fierce storms due to the rising temperature. Rivers and streams swell with the water, sometimes threatening villages in Sevenfold Commonwealth. It is also a season of renewal, as the showers help flowers and crops grow quickly.
Miracles: As plants and flowers grow, this is the time of year the Idols bestow the most blessings. Festivals celebrating fertility and life are common, with people giving thanks for the earth’s abundance. Travelers often find paths more welcoming as nature bursts with color and fragrance.
Bloomings: Summer begins, fruit and vegetables are now ready to be reaped. Gardens and orchards are at their peak, offering a feast for both humans and wildlife. The long days invite outdoor gatherings and the start of adventurous journeys.
Summertide: As the temperature rises, most people don't need to wear cloaks anymore outside. Rivers and lakes are perfect for swimming, and the sun encourages travelers to explore distant lands. The air is filled with the scent of herbs, flowers, and freshly cut hay.
Highsun: The hottest time of the year. Most beings would prefer to wear nothing at all! Haha! Crops ripen fully under the unrelenting sun, and markets bustle with farmers selling their harvests. Nights are warm and lively, often filled with music, dancing, and celebration.
Fadings: As the heat starts to fade, the temperature is still enjoyable. Beautiful sunsets this time of year! Animals begin preparing for winter, gathering food and building nests. The golden hues of the fields signal a time of reflection and gratitude for the season’s bounty.
Leaffall: The leaves fall from the trees, a sign that a new winter is on its way. Woods become quiet except for the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot. It is a favored time for storytelling and feasts as communities gather indoors.
Rottings: The fallen leaves start to rot... Nature starts to prepare for the cold. Heavy storms this time of year. Soil is enriched with decaying matter, making it fertile for the next spring. Animals begin burrowing or storing food as the days shorten and chill sets in.
Snow's Whisper:The temperature drops significantly. People should stock up and prepare for the cold to come. Fires burn brightly in homes, and nights are spent in warmth and quiet reflection. The first snowfall covers the land in a soft, magical blanket of white.
Snowshroud: The coldest time of year. People remain indoors to keep warm. Frozen rivers make travel difficult, but skating and sledding become common joys. The world seems hushed, with nature itself resting under the snow’s protective cover.
Chillfang: The deep winter has passed, but it's still relatively cold. Frosted mornings linger, and evenings remain long and sharp. Villagers eagerly anticipate the coming warmth, while wildlife cautiously emerges from hiding.
