Some theorists claim the realms already existed, abandoned by their original inhabitants, and were later claimed by mortals who came from beyond. Others believe a single, mythical being created the world as an experiment. However, a few theories and tales have emerged over the ages, each attempting to explain the origin of all existence.

Theory 1: The Cosmic Duality

One of the widely accepted theory begins in the depths of a nameless nothingness, where time and space held no meaning. From this void, a wondrous event unfolded: the emergence of “The Spark” a pure drop of light that defied comprehension and ignited the very fabric of existence. This shimmering, celestial beacon held within it the convergence of all possibilities and the essence of creation itself, weaving the tapestry of life. However, the pulse of The Spark lured its opposite from the depths. An endless darkness with a singular purpose: to douse that spark forever. This force, known only as The Void, represents oblivion and consumption. It hungers to devour all that The Spark has birthed and plunge the cosmos into a perpetual abyss where all is forgotten.

These two primordial forces became locked in a timeless struggle of Creation versus Destruction, Light versus Shadow. As The Void consumed parts of the inextinguishable Spark, it began to corrupt and create its own forces to aid in its quest. This eternal conflict gave rise to the concepts of Celestials and Fiends and forged the four elemental powers, Water, Fire, Earth, and Air that shaped the realms. From this cosmic battle, a mysterious and potent power known as "The Breath" was born. This invisible energy flows through every being, allowing them to manipulate reality itself by drawing upon the potent energy of creation. The Breath is also a reflection of the eternal struggle within each soul, pulling them toward either the radiant light of The Spark or the alluring darkness of The Void. This period of creation, which laid the foundation for all life, is known as the Era of Sparks.

Theory 2: The Authored Reality

An alternative theory, supported by ancient documents and whispered legends, claims that reality was not born from a random cosmic event but was intentionally authored. This theory posits that a single, mysterious force or beings, sometimes referred to as The Fates or 'The Hooded Writers' created the realms by writing the stories and destinies of all its inhabitants.

A hooded wanderer who travels unseen through The Void between stories, gathering whispers and echoes to weave into his grand design. It is said he paid an unspeakable price for the sight to read the threads of all that is, was, and will be, becoming the author of a reality they both create and observe. From a place far beyond any realm’s reach, they are the storyteller who crafts the tales of heroes and villains, Idols and mortals alike. Every soul is a character upon his page, every choice a string he gently pulls. It is his own Breath that gives life to the ink, granting every soul a story and the will to follow it. They can contemplate writing an "excuse for them to be absent," altering their path with a mere stroke of his pen. In this version of creation, the first Celestials and Fiends were written into existence through his everlasting struggle with The Void.

Yet for all this power, they are also a character in the grandest story of all—one they did not write, but must navigate. They watch, they write, and they wait, for they know that every hero must be tested, every tragedy must have its weight, and every ending, even his own, is but a prelude to the next page. They read tales that are not yet finished, for they know, as their children do, that the best stories are the ones where fate isn't set in stone yet. Even if they have forgotten that message himself...

A Folkloric Tale: Solaris and The Mischievous Mice

Beyond scholarly theories, more personified creation myths are told across Ignisar. One of these tales speaks of a time when a majestic feline named Solaris reigned as the guardian of the land, a radiant protector who cast a brilliant light over everything. Yet, as his light created life, it also created shadows, allowing the malevolent entity known as The Void to seep into the world, undetected.

This darkness was challenged by a brave little mouse named Aurora. Inspired by Solaris, she and other mice captured rays of sunlight during the day and released them into the night sky, creating the first stars as a guiding beacon against The Void. Intrigued and proud of the mice's defiance, Solaris gifted them the moon, Luna, a smooth rock that he placed in orbit to reflect his light at night, keeping the darkness at bay and allowing him to watch over the world even as he rested. This tale serves as a popular allegory for the eternal struggle between light and darkness, where even the smallest creatures can make a difference.
