Nornir's Woven are exceptionally rare individuals whose births are marked by powerful cosmic events and alignments, granting them an extraordinary and innate connection to The Breath. These mortals are often destined for paths of great significance, their lives intrinsically woven into the grand, unfolding narrative of Ignisar or even beyond.

Their potential is vast, and under the right guidance or persuasion, they can become exceedingly powerful, capable of shaping the very fabric of fate. Nornir's Woven are categorized into four distinct types based on the celestial circumstances of their birth: Sunkissed, Moonborn, Starborn

Urðr's Chosen (Sunkissed)

These mortals are born at the exact stroke of noon, when the sun is at its highest point in the sky. They are connected to Urðr, one of The Fates who represents the past and that which is or is destined to be.

The sun shines upon those who are expected to rise, kings, queens, and chosen heroes. Affirming that greatness begets greatness, Urðr's Chosen walk a path that is often clear and pre-written, fulfilling a grand destiny that has long been established.

They often possess an innate capacity for leadership. Their lives are frequently marked by clear achievement and recognized authority, as they fulfill the high expectations placed upon them from birth. Their powers are tied to light, life, order, and inspiration.

Verðandi's Chosen (Moonblessed)

These mortals are born at the stroke of midnight, under the steady gaze of the moon. They are connected to Verðandi, one of the Fates who represents the present and that which is becoming.

They are tied to the moon's essence as a reflector of light, a guiding presence in the darkness, and a gateway to the unfolding realms of mystery and dreams.

Moonborn are often introspective, insightful, and possess a natural affinity for the unseen. They are comfortable with secrets and are frequently drawn to paths of divination, scholarship, or intrigue.

Their powers may include illusion, dreamwalking, and the ability to perceive or influence the hidden truths of the present moment.

Skuld's Chosen (Starborn)

Starborn are born at midnight, specifically under unique and rare celestial constellations or lunar events. They are connected to Skuld, one of the Fates who represents the future and that which shall be.—not as a predetermined script, but as the inevitable consequence of choices made in the past and present.

They are a living testament to the idea that "The best stories are the ones where fate isn't set in stone yet".

Yet the future is not completely unwritten, their actions give their story its weight and meaning, creating the consequences that Skuld represents. Starborn do not necessarily break fate, but they confront it head-on. They are defined by the significant choices they make and their willingness to face the repercussions.

“You need not walk only this path. Another lies open, if you are brave enough.”

The Fylgja’s Found (The Outliers)

The found are not marked at birth, nor foretold in prophecy. They are mortals whose defiance, courage, or strange paths in life catch the gaze of The Fylgja. They are not chosen, but discovered.

These souls are outliers. Their lives seldom follow the carved expectations of lineage, prophecy, or obligation. Instead, they embody the chance to step sideways within fate, to walk a path unbound from what was woven before.

These mortals may carry an aura of strangeness, often feeling set apart from the world around them. They are survivors, wanderers, and breakers of chains. Where The Fates bind past, present, and future, the fylgja alone offers renewal.

Their gift is not to deny fate, but to bend it — to find the narrow trail hidden between doom and destiny.
