Description

The military Alliance of Sword Coast cities that conquered most of Kildar ten years ago. Having successfully ended the threat of Kildarian mishandling of Netherese magic and technology, most of the forces of the Alliance have returned home to the Sword Coast. A still significant expeditionary force remains however, to prevent the old powers of Kildar from making a resurgence and endangering the world with their recklessness once more.

The Responsible Use of Magic decrees

The Responsible Use of Magic decrees, also known as the RUM, are a set of laws that the Caretaker appointed by the Lords Alliance signed into law on the same day the Treaty of Arland was signed by the cities of Kildar. The decrees regulate almost all uses of magic, from the possession and use of Magical Artifacts to the casting of powerful spells themselves. It also established the licensing system, magic free zones and the Tribunals to enforce them.

Over the last 10 years, more laws have passed delegating and specifying powers and responsibilities between the different branches of the Expeditionary Force, the Tribunals and the cities of Kildar.

The licensing system

In order to reduce the risk of irresponsible spellcasters harming the people of Kildar, intentionally or otherwise, the RUM established a system that required every spellcaster to register themselves with the government. To achieve this, the decrees make it illegal to cast any spell or ritual without a license. As such, the areas of Kildar where the Lords Alliance makes its presence known have forced their institutions to adopt the licensing system. From the Druidic Circles or Arland to the university of Il-Heban and the Wizarding schools of Brell, all register their members and those who strive to learn from them in the Licensing Archive, where their identities and capabilities are registered and they receive a Magic License.

Structure

Caretaker Ezzelin of Sundabar

The Remaining forces of the Lords Alliance are under the command of the Caretaker appointed by the Lords. The current Caretaker, Ezzelin of Sundabar leads the Alliance forces from their administrative centre built atop the ruins of Fort Triumph. From here he manages the Fleets anti-piracy operations, the Tribunals' enforcement of the Responsible Use of Magic decrees and the switching out of the Expeditionary forces.

The Tribunals

Every town of note in Kildar hosts a local representative of the Lords Alliance. The representative holds the rank of Tribunal, and their main job is the enforcement of the RUM and leading the local Expeditionary forces in their day to day operations.

The Expeditionary forces

The Expedtionary forces have turned the remains of Šraku into a military outpost. It is their main base of operations and where new troops arrive from the Sword Coast and veterans start their journey home. They are the fist of the Lords Alliance and their presence keeps the once powerful Guilds, the Eldritch Inquisition and the Crusaders of Lady Elaine from overrunning and endangering Kildar.
