Tabaxi’s, also known as the cat-folk or jaguar people are a species of feline humanoids native to the jungles and steppes of Kildar. Rarely leaving their clans lands, to see a Tabaxi wander the streets, would often be met with strange looks and whispers.
Their appearances are as varied as their attitudes. Some Tabaxi have features or patterning in their fur like tigers, jaguars, or other big cats, while others have appearances more like a house cat. Still others have unique patterns or might style their fur to their preferences—or might even be hairless!
Their slit-pupiled eyes, allow them to see with Darkvision and thanks to their slender builds tabaxi's are generally competent climbers and speedy runners. Their tails enable them to have a good sense of balance and while their feline noses give them an acute sense of smell.
In some lands, tabaxi live like the cats they resemble, naturally curious and at home in playful environments. In other places, tabaxi live as other folk do, not exhibiting the feline behavior the Cat Lord intended.
Tabaxi society on the steppes and jungles is usually built around clans. Clans are split evenly between males and females with 3 to 12 young. Each clan has several Hunts each made up of two to eight individuals. The Hunts patrol the area around the clan's lair.
Although nomadic-tabaxi settlements are usually just temporary tent-camps. The more stationary clans often build small villages. Clans are led by elders, often aided by shamans.
Created by the Cat Lord—a divine being of the Upper Planes—to blend the qualities of humanoids and cats, tabaxi are a varied people in both attitude and appearance.
