The Isle of Newglen was once part of a much larger Elvish Island with ties to the Feywild. A few hundred years ago, however, disaster struck and the Island was split off from the main land. No one is sure what happened but it may have had something to do with the Fall of the Verdant court.

The area nearest the split was once a lush, green and vibrant forest populated with many Elven cities but afterwards it turned into blisteringly hot desert. The sun scorched and cooked the flesh from the very bones of those that remained. The bones burnt in the sun and turned bright white, earning the nickname Sunbleach desert.

Those elves that survived either fled south to the fertile fields and the fledging human settlements or headed West and tried to survive the harsh landscape of the nearby mountains. Either way the once pureblooded Elven population began intermingling with the local populace.

A few decades after the split a wandering Dao found itself so impressed by the workmen in the mountainous region that they decided to move in and take ownership of the region.

They soon began the annual Contest of Skill, rewarding the most skilled of craftsmen once a year with a wish spell. Notable uses of the spell have been to cause the mines to be overflowing and never run dry, and to make a road threw the Verdant forest.

Today the only fey inspired thing left on the island, other than the ruins dotted around the Sunbleach desert, is the Verdant forest. Ever shifting and changing, many a seasoned adventurer has become lost in the whispering trees and found themselves emerging somewhere entirely different than they inteded.
