"Hello and welcome to my humble teahouse! My name is Wiggly Wig and today I'll be your guide.
Ugh! My eyes! Oh, excuse me, what did you say? You don't have a proper attire? I mean, no, no, whatever... that... is, is alright, I guess.
Okey, follow me please! Today we will have "Tea". Please do not call it "High Tea", we do not take the tea at the countertop and we don't belong to the low class, do we?
Alright, just remember a couple easy etiquette rules:
Nº 1. Hold your tea cup softly by the handle with your right index, thumb and middle fingers.
Nº 2. Don't insert the fingers through the handle.
Nº 3. Tea cup handle always at three o'clock
Nº 4. Tea goes first, then milk if desired. Don't worry, our tea cups won't shatter!
Nº 5. Milk and sugar only for black tea.
Nº 6. Don't swirl your tea. A few gentle movements from 6 to 12 o'clock. We are not barbarians.
Nº 7. Don't hit the tea cup with the spoon while stirring, we don't wan't to scratch it, do we?
Nº 8. The spoon goes on the saucer behind the tea cup, not in your mouth!
Nº 9. Never pick up the saucer while sitting, we have tables.
Nº 10. If you are standing you are allowed to take the saucer with your left hand.
Nº 11. Who is the host? Only you are allowed to pour the tea. Don't serve yourself first!
Nº 12. No slurping, leave that for the uncivilized people from the east!
Nº 13. No blowing! The tea does not wait for you, you wait for the tea.
Nº 14. Napkin goes on your lap. If you are not sitting you can set it under the plate on your left.
Nº 15. Small sips, enjoy the moment, enjoy the tea, enjoy life.
Nº 16. If you wish a scone or sandwich, small bites.
Nº 17. Don't lick your fingers.
Nº 18. Don't dunk the food into the tea!
Nº 19. When you are done place the spoon in the 4:20 possition and I'll take it away.
Nº 20. And most importantly, always lift your pinky finger while sipping. I consider it very sophisticated.
So, what tea is of your desire?"
This etiquette rules are from most western Europe traditions. Most eastern countries find slurpping polite.
Also, never lift your pinkie finger while sipping, it's very rude. Wiggly Wig is just very pretentious.
The origin of the lift pinke finger is unknown. Some say that it was the way Romans had to differentiate low class who holds the tea cup with their whole hands from high class. Others say that it was a way of asking for "male company". Other theory explains that tea was imported from Asia and their tea cups had no handle, so tea cups had to be holded with the few possible fingers or you would burn your hands.
