Bay of Fund

The Bay of Fund is a long, funnel-shaped bay with a tidal range (maximum height distance between low and high tides) of about 20m (65ft).
This bay is filled with hundreds of caves that fill with water on high tides. Lots of junk and fish end up trapped in these caves. It's pretty dangerous to enter the caves without a guide, but some locals take advantage of the low tides and scavenge the stranded goods. Who knows, you may find some treasure from a recent shipwreck.
This cave is particularly well-preserved because of the entrance. It looks like a giant creature got stuck in the entrance and its skeleton is now supporting the structure. The Bay of Fund is called like this because it's said that if you are lucky enough the caves will reward you with valuable treasures that, if you use them to fund a business, it will always be successful. It would not be the first time that someone becomes rich by finding nice stuff in here. 

Creating tides for your own world

Here, tides are semidiurnal cycles, meaning they have two low tides and two high tides each day. So it takes six hours to go from high to low and vice versa. That is for an Earthlike planet with a 24 hours solar day cycle and close to 24 hours night cycle.
The usual tidal range in the rest of the world is about 3m (10ft) but in the Bay of Fund there are some factors that amplify that effect.
If you want to create powerful tides for your world, these are some things that you want to consider:

  1. The Moon is the main force that affects tides. It causes water to bulge out on the side closest to the Moon and on the farthest side of it. If you are on the surface of the planet, as it rotates, you will enter the bulge (high tide) or exit it (low tide). If you have multiple moons, add the effect when they align or cancel each other out if they are on opposite sides.

  2. The star or stars that your planet revolves around has a minimal but still noticeable effect on your tides, similar to the Moon.
    Because of this, the Moon phase also plays a big role. On new moon or full moon, as the Moon is aligned with the Sun, the effect will be amplified.

  3. Topography. Funnel shaped bays that go shallower the more you get close to the shore amplifies this effect by a lot.

  4. Depending on the geography, you may have diurnal (one tide per day) or semidiurnal (two tides per day).

  5. Storms can also affect tides. Changes in pressure and wind can move the water away from the coastline or into it, resulting in exceptional low or high tides, respectively.

  6. You may also want to take a look at tidal bores. The leading edge of an upcoming tide that forms a big wave that travels up river/bay and reverts its current.

  7. These facts are oversimplified. Tidal ranges calculations depend on a lot of factors and are much more complicated than this. So if someone tells you with a quirky voice that your tides make no sense because of the tectonic plates or whatever, tell them what all fantasy worldbuilders would: shut up, it's magic.
