Ketesh, the Broken Circle, is the name given to the brother-moon of Kajsha. Long ago it was shattered by Ilyana Pactbroken in a fit of rage after she felt the bonds it represented had betrayed her. Where once the silver-blue light of the greater moon once interwove the Fey and the Material, whose light fought back the fogsea of Neysar there instead raced in a spiritual darkness that lingers even now. Once said to be home of the precursors to the elves and the near-extinct alqami.
In the millennia since, the shattered remains of the moon have slowly formed a ring around the planet, glittering in the dark night sky with a faint hit of blue drifting between the greater of the shards. It is this feature that gives this system the nickname Shatterspace to travellers from beyond. Though much of the Broken Circle is made of relatively small shards that are incapable of supporting more than a handful of beings, some spelljammer crews speak of Arkesh and Stonesingers who live in hidden alcoves on some of the larger sections, though both groups are highly xenophobic. A small contingent of oddly primitive elves still live on the largest of the shards, their society is very agrarian with a focus on the maintenance and expansion of their silver-leafed forests at the base of the craters, a bizarre sight on a predominantly barren slab of rock.
Legend says the Palace of Memory once sat upon the surface of Ketesh and was brought to its static and absolute location in Neysar by Dottrafn. Some of the oldest myths among the native populations of the Southern Reaches speak of a bridge of moonlight used by the leaders of the old tribes to converse and make peace under Ketesh’s guidance, however much debate remains on how literally this concept is to be interpreted.
