The catalyst, the tragedy or triumph that defined their turning point? The topic of what makes an interesting character backstory that matters in your roleplay isn’t far from what makes historical backstories or those found in novels interesting and functional. 2 Mar 2024 • 2 min readDev Update: Map tiles, backlinks, aliasesHey folks! It's been a while since the last dev update, so let's do a round-up of the latest changes to LegendKeeper. This post will get a litte bit technical because I 💁♂️feel like it💁♂️. Map Tiles The map tiling system got a huge upgrade in 0.15.4.0. In case you've already forgotten, here's how it worked prior: To use an image as a map, you'd upload a "Map Image", wait 1 to 15 minutes for it to process, and then use that sweet slippy tile map. That... sucked. It was the oldest, jankiesLK Weekly

One of the biggest draws to TTRPG games is the freedom to craft a world, and then use it to tell a collaborative story. To be run well, an RPG session must be handled in a way that can provide something for anyone at your table. Having so many ways to play a game can leave Dungeon Masters with a lot of choices. The problem is that there’s not much direction on which tools are best for their table. While some tools can be comprehensive, sometimes aD&D 5eResourcesTools
20 Jan 2024 • 1 min readDev Update: Take a look at banner! The latest update brings a new, dramatic way to customize the atmosphere of your LegendKeeper pages: Banners! You can now place decorative, panoramic images at the top of your text pages. On a wiki page, click the three-dot menu and click "Show banner" to get started. This option won't show up on a map or board tab, as the banner is not displayed there due to space reasons. I'm finding this to be a great way to freshen up my pages. Content blocks in the text editor now have a handy little grip menu that allows you to drag blocks and insert content easily. Additionally, content block options have been moved into the grip menu, making for a much cleaner interface with less hover-y things flying around everywhere. Crunchy Stuff Whew! I finally got update 0.15.0.0 out. Despite only having a few user-facing features, this update was enormous. If you've followed prior dev logs, yLK Weekly

The stuff I’ve been working on has been dense, and after long weeks it was hard to sit down and write technical posts reviewing everything. But, I’m working on some exciting things, so it's time to fill you in. Text Editor Overall, the new text editor has been a huge hit, and has remedied many issues with the text editing experience. There are still things to improve and bugs to fix. I’ve been shipping small updates, and I expect to be fixiLK Weekly

I'll be doing another rigorous round of testing and hopefully launching next week! I'm really excited to get this update out; it's going to improve LK's feel a lot, and help me move on to more powerful, streamlined features. Not to mention finally getting to work on Timeline. :D Most improvements are around stability and un-jankifying the typing experience, but I wanted to give a teaser of sLK Weekly

All the core functionality is implemented, and I'm down to bugfixing and wiring up the parts where the editor needs to talk to the rest of the app. I'll have our preview-testing group start banging on the editor next week, and if all goes well, I'll have the 0.14 out the week after. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the editor. It's a big invesment into the LK codebase, and will improve the core experience a lot. KeeLK Weekly

I took a vacation last week to recharge my batteries, and then ended up sick this week so things are a bit slow on my end. What have I been up to? Honestly, mostly boring marketing stuff.
