A Bleed Timer is the amount of time your character has between dropping to zero HP and dying. If you drop to zero HP, you are so badly wounded that you fall over and must remain on the ground until aid is rendered by another character or your character dies. If the ground where you are is unsafe or particularly wet, you may take up to two steps away to a safer location. If no such location is available in the immediate area, you may instead take a knee with a hand in the air or lean against a stable surface like a wall or tree. Once you have fallen to the ground, you may not move from that spot unless you need to for OOC safety reasons, your character dies, or another character "carries" you from that spot.
Once you have dropped to zero HP, your Bleed Timer will start, and you must begin tracking the time that has elapsed since you fell to zero HP. At a base, each character will have a Bleed Timer of 2 minutes. This can be increased by various potions, rituals, enchanted items, etc.
When your character is Bleeding Out, they cannot do anything but shout for help. They can still sense what is happening around them. They cannot pull out and consume a potion, they cannot use calls such as Heal to bring themselves back up, etc. The only exception to the no Call rule is if you have the Unstoppable Call and enough Prowess to call it. If you are on your Bleed Timer, you are helpless and very distracted by the fact that you are actively bleeding out. It is highly recommended to roleplay the fact that your character is in the process of dying from their wounds.
Once your character has regained at least 1 HP, this Bleed Timer stops and you can get back up to continue the fight. If you character goes down to zero HP again, the Bleed Timer starts again at your full Bleed Timer amount.
If your Bleed Timer runs out before you receive any healing, your character has died. Please see the rules about Death under the Combat Rules tab
