Each character in the Realm of Liminalis LARP starts with Base 2 Health Points (HP) and 3 Character Points (CP). These points are spent to gain abilities, which enable your character to do special activities in the game. Each ability, with the exception of Capstone Abilities, costs 1 CP. Please note, some abilities require you take a prerequisite ability before gaining access to that ability.
Skill trees require you to follow the abilities in the order presented. These are categorized as level 1, level 2 and level 3 abilities and you must follow them in order. Once a character has all three levels of a skill tree, they can decide between one of two different Capstone Abilities (which all cost 2 CP).
During or after your first Convergence, if you decide you do not like the abilities you picked, you may change all or several of them as you see fit. During and after your second Convergence and beyond, you can always refund one of your abilities and change it to another one. Please let us know if you would like to change any of your abilities and we will be happy to help.
Many of these abilities allow you to perform what we refer to as Calls. These are unique skills usually performed in combat scenarios used to change the flow of battle. As an example, Stun is a magical call someone can make to cause the victim to be frozen in place for a certain amount of time. To find out more information on Calls, please see the Combat Rules section.
Our skill trees are currently split into 4 different categories: Fighter, Mage, Crafter, and Support. To become a Fighter or a Mage, you are required to put your first character point into the prerequisite abilities: Prowess or Mana (respectively). To become a Crafter or Support class, no such requirement exists.
Multiclassing is allowed and encouraged to make the kind of character you want to play. However, multiclassing does mean it will take you longer to get to those higher-level abilities and Capstone Abilities. Please weigh the risks and benefits before deciding where to put your character points.
The maximum CP a character can have is capped at 20 CP.
There is one base ability in game that requires no prerequisite and is not linked to any of the categories/skill trees: Stamina. You can take it as many times as you want as long as you have the CP to do so. *As a note, each character starts the game with a Base HP of 2.
Stamina (1 CP)
You gain +2 base HP
To start down the Fighter Skill Trees you must put a CP into Prowess. This gives you the resource pool to allow you to perform many of the Fighter abilities and Calls.
Prowess (1 CP)
This ability gives you a Prowess pool of 3. To gain additional Prowess, each subsequent character point you put into Prowess gives you three more Prowess points.
After you put a CP into Prowess, you then have access to four different Fighter skill trees that you can start putting CP into. Please note, you must go down each skill tree in level order, AKA you cannot just put a point into a level 3 ability without already having the level 1 and level 2 abilities of that skill tree. Please see the Fighter Skill Trees subtab to learn more.
To start down the Mage Skill Trees, you must put a CP into Mana. This gives you the resource pool to allow you to perform many of the Mage abilities and Calls.
Mana (1 CP)
This ability gives you a Mana pool of 3. In addition, you gain the Quantum channeling attribute, starting with 1 Quantum channeling, which allows you to participate in Rituals (please see rituals for more information). To gain additional Mana and Quantum channeling, each subsequent Character Point you put into Mana gives you 3 more Mana points and 1 more Quantum channeling.
After you put a CP into Mana, you then have access to four different Mage skill trees that you can start putting CP into. Please note, you must go down each skill tree in level order, AKA you cannot just put a point into a level 3 ability without already having the level 1 and level 2 abilities of that skill tree. Please see the Mage Skill Trees subtab to learn more.
To start down one of the Support Skill Trees you do not need to put any CP into a prerequisite ability. Please see the Support Skill Trees subtab to learn more.
To start down one of the Crafting Skill Trees you do not need to put any CP into a prerequisite ability. Please see the Crafting Skill Trees subtab to learn more.
It is possible and encouraged to multiclass to create the type of character you want to play. But it does raise some questions about how a few mechanics work. For example, you can have both a Mana pool and a Prowess pool and there may be some Calls you can make with either pool, such as a Ranger - Primal Warden capstone and multiclass into Druid - both classes offer the ability to call Root. But one instance uses Mana and the other uses Prowess. If you have the ability to make a Call with either Mana or Prowess, it is up to you which pool you would like to use. But please keep track of your respective pools accordingly.
If there are abilities, such as the Herald capstone for Bard where your character can gain Mana or Prowess, you must choose which of those pools to increase. Same goes with potions or any other resource that increases Mana OR Prowess, you cannot gain both.
Depending on what story lines the Twiceborn follow and if they succeed in certain objectives, additional classes may be unlocked for future events. When this happens, announcements will be made, new skill trees will be revealed, and all characters will be allowed to start putting their future CP into those classes.
