Name: Caedric Halvane

Age: 52
Caedric Halvane serves as the current Custodes Commandant of the High Citadel, the man responsible for the discipline, security, and martial readiness of the Custodes who guard the most sacred institution of the Faith of Nine. Born in the fortified river settlement of Riverrun, Caedric was raised in a household where duty was treated as a simple fact of life rather than a grand ideal. His mother served as a caravan guard captain while his father worked as a clerk maintaining trade records along the central routes of Llithe. From them he learned two important lessons early: the world moved on roads built by ordinary people, and those roads were only safe because someone stood watch. Caedric enlisted in the King’s Army as a young man and quickly earned recognition for his calm judgment under pressure. He was never the loudest voice in a war council, but his decisions in moments of chaos repeatedly saved soldiers and civilians alike.
After nearly three decades of service in the King’s Army, Caedric was invited to join the Custodes, the elite guardians stationed at the High Citadel. The Custodes existed to protect more than stone walls. They protected the knowledge, relics, and sacred doctrine that shaped the spiritual heart of Llithe. Caedric approached this role with the same grounded discipline he carried throughout his military career. Where previous leaders relied heavily on ceremony and tradition, he believed the Citadel’s protectors should train with the same rigor as soldiers defending a battlefield. Under his influence, the Custodes began drilling more frequently, rotating patrols beyond the Citadel’s outer grounds, and studying emerging threats across the realm. Some elders initially resisted these changes, but the increasing instability of the world soon proved his caution justified.
When the former Commandant passed away during the early years following the appearance of the Tower of Soddom, the Clerics Concord appointed Caedric Halvane as his successor. Now as Custodes Commandant, he commands the Citadel’s defenders while maintaining a careful respect for the spiritual authority of the High Priestess and the scholars who dwell within its walls. Though he speaks little about it, Caedric privately believes the Citadel will one day face dangers far greater than bandits or political intrigue. Mana across Llithe is weakening, strange forces have begun to surface near the Wisp, and knowledge preserved within the Citadel may become the target of powers seeking to control the future of the realm. For Caedric Halvane, the duty of the Custodes has never been clearer: when the world begins to unravel, the High Citadel must remain standing.
