Name: Lady Marina Ferroway
Age: 43
Race: Human
Lady Marina Ferroway commands the windswept city of Cold Harbor, the most vital maritime gateway in Llithe. Perched along rugged coastline where grey waters meet iron docks, Cold Harbor has long served as the kingdom’s shield and bridge to the wider seas. Merchant vessels, fishing fleets, naval escorts, and long distance trade ships all converge within its harbor walls before dispersing toward the trade routes that feed the kingdom’s economy. While House Galahad governs the flow of goods inland, it is House Ferroway that ensures those goods arrive safely across open water.
Marina was not raised as a distant noble observing ships from balconies. She grew up on their decks. Her father, Lord Aedric Ferroway, believed that leadership over sailors must come from understanding their world firsthand. By the age of twelve she had crossed the North Aecor Sea multiple times, learning navigation by stars and tide charts rather than classroom instruction. She could splice rope, repair sailcloth, and command a helm long before she ever stepped into a council chamber.
Her reputation was forged during her early twenties when she took command of a merchant escort vessel after its captain was killed during a pirate engagement near the western shoals. Rather than retreat, Marina reorganized the convoy formation mid battle, using the coastline and shifting wind to trap the raiders against jagged rock channels. The encounter became known among sailors as The Shoal Turn, a maneuver now taught to naval officers across Llithe.
When she inherited leadership of Cold Harbor, Marina immediately began strengthening the port’s infrastructure. New breakwaters were constructed to protect the harbor during violent winter storms, lighthouse systems were expanded along dangerous coastal approaches, and additional naval patrol fleets were commissioned. Her efforts transformed Cold Harbor from a defensive port into a true maritime command center capable of coordinating fleets across multiple sea lanes simultaneously.
Marina also worked closely with the Trafalgar shipwrights of Taloncrest to modernize the kingdom’s fleet. Their collaboration produced stronger hull designs capable of enduring longer voyages and heavier cargo. These improvements allowed Llithe’s merchants to expand trade far beyond their traditional coastal range, increasing both wealth and political influence across the region.
Despite her strategic mind, Marina maintains a sailor’s straightforward demeanor. She speaks plainly, rarely indulging in political theatrics common among nobles. Captains trust her because she understands the reality of life at sea: storms do not negotiate, currents do not obey rank, and crews follow leaders who demonstrate competence rather than titles.
Marina has quietly ordered expanded patrols along those waters and begun compiling reports from every captain who sails within sight of the spire. She suspects the Tower’s influence may eventually reach far beyond the Wisp’s coastline. If the sea itself begins to warp under its presence, the consequences for Llithe’s maritime trade could be catastrophic.
