Reach's Military

Reach’s military is built on structure, separation of duty, and controlled authority. It is not a single mass of soldiers but a layered system designed to prevent collapse from within as much as defend against threats from without. At its highest and most personal tier stands the Kingsguard, an elite and tightly selected force sworn directly to the Crown. They are not deployed in conventional warfare unless the survival of the royal line demands it. Beneath them stands the King’s Army, the disciplined standing force of Reach and, by extension, Llithe. Organized, salaried, and permanently trained, the Army maintains borders, secures cities, and reinforces watch towns. Its doctrine favors cohesion and containment over reckless valor, reflecting Reach’s philosophy that sovereignty is maintained through order rather than spectacle.

Separate from both, yet sanctioned by the Crown, is the Marauders Scouting Legion. The Legion does not answer to battlefield command but operates under a specialized charter dedicated solely to the Tower of Soddom. Where the King’s Army holds the land and the Kingsguard protects the throne, the Legion confronts the unknown. Its Fireteams move with surgical precision rather than banners and formations, carrying ink and memory as weapons alongside steel. Together, these three branches form a military structure that is stable, compartmentalized, and deliberately balanced. Each exists to prevent overreach by the others, ensuring that Reach’s power remains controlled even in the shadow of the Tower.
