New Beginnings

The era known as New Beginnings marked the first true shaping of Llithe after its earliest settlers claimed the land. The soil was rich, the seasons generous, and the climate forgiving. Those who arrived did not find a hostile wilderness, but a realm that seemed ready to be cultivated. The Species of Tongue spread outward with optimism, carving settlements from fertile plains and establishing communities that grew quickly and confidently. There was little fear in those early years, only the steady rhythm of construction and hope.

Bera rose during this era as the first great capital. Settled in the western reaches upon the most fruitful land in Llithe, it quickly became the center of governance and sustenance. Its fields fed not only its own people, but neighboring regions struggling to stabilize themselves. Under King Locke Berathian, Bera embodied generosity and order. The title of Berathian became synonymous with provision and fairness, and many looked westward to the capital as both anchor and promise.

New Beginnings was also a time of cooperation. When the Highlands and Xemascus sought aid in establishing their footholds, Bera extended resources freely. Caravans traveled steadily outward carrying grain, tools, livestock, and knowledge. It was an era in which growth felt communal rather than competitive. Settlements were linked by mutual reliance, and the boundaries of Llithe were defined with clarity and relative peace.

It was during this period that first contact with the Wisp solidified into understanding rather than tension. The forest inhabitants had long preceded the Species of Tongue, yet they did not resist the newcomers. King Locke’s decision to meet with them and later establish Reach as a gesture of partnership reflected the cautious optimism of the time. Though Mana had not yet reshaped society, the seeds of future transformation were planted in this era of open hands and shared ground.

Culturally, New Beginnings forged identity. The Faith of Nine grew in prominence, temples rose, and regional devotion began to take shape. Bera leaned deeply into reverence for the High Matron, seeing harvest as divine blessing. Governance structures formed. Lords and nobles were recognized. Roads were marked. Borders were acknowledged. Llithe was no longer a scattering of hopeful settlements. It was becoming a kingdom.

By the end of New Beginnings, Llithe stood unified, prosperous, and confident in its future. There had been no great war, no internal fracture, no looming shadow across the sea. It was a time remembered with warmth and clarity, when ambition had not yet turned sharp and innovation had not yet bred rivalry. In memory, it remains the purest expression of what Llithe believed itself to be before power complicated everything.
