Lines & Veils

Lines & Veils

To make sure everyone at the table is comfortable and having fun, we use Lines & Veils as part of our safety tools. This helps us set boundaries on content that may appear in the game.

What Are Lines & Veils?

Lines are subjects that will not appear in the game at all.
Veils are subjects that may exist in the world, but will fade to black and not be described in detail.

If something comes up that crosses a Line or Veil, we will immediately move past it with no questions asked.

Players can add Lines or Veils at any time, even between sessions.

Lines (Will Not Appear)

Common examples include:

  • Sexual violence

  • Harm to children

  • Graphic torture

  • Real-world hate speech or discrimination

  • Anything a player specifically requests be excluded

If a topic is a Line, it does not exist in our game.

Veils (Fade to Black)

Common examples include:

  • Consensual sex / romance

  • Graphic violence or gore

  • Torture (non-graphic)

  • Drug use

  • Excessive cruelty

These things may happen, but we do not roleplay or describe them in detail. The scene fades out and moves on.

The X-Card (In-Game Safety Tool)

If something makes you uncomfortable during a session:

  • Say “X” in chat

  • Say “Pause”

  • Message me privately

  • Use the Foundry "Raise My Hand!" tool

We will immediately skip, rewind, or change the scene. No explanation required.

Final Note

This is a game, and the goal is for everyone to feel safe, comfortable, and excited to be here.
Using Lines & Veils helps us tell great stories without crossing real-life boundaries.

You can message me privately at any time to add a Line or Veil -- no explanation needed!
