In the accounts of Albus Huxley, the Azāstār were long dismissed as mere monsters of the southern reaches. In truth, they are the "Kindled People," born from the scorched earth where the god Datash battled the Lord of Frost. They are a race of profound will, defined by the struggle between inner fire and external cold.

I. Noble Warriors

The Lion-Faced The Azāstār are furred, feline beings with a striking resemblance to the lions of the savanna.

  • The Mane of Strength: Males are distinguished by thick, regal manes, while females possess narrower, more elegant facial features.

  • The Hues of Fire: Their fur typically ranges from tawny gold to sun-bleached cream. Rarer individuals are born with coats of midnight black or snow white—often seen as omens of great destiny or heavy burden.

II. An Emerging Empire

The King of Kings. Since the unification of the tribes in 242 AF, the Emerald Isle (Uzumzire) has transformed into a burgeoning superpower. However, a small group of Azāstārians still live in tribal groups in Poseia; these are known as the Vedaheir.

  • The Vizier’s Law: Under the King of Kings and his sprawling bureaucracy, the Azāstār have moved from tribal skirmishes to ambitious urban planning and technological advancement.

  • The Meritocracy of Might: Despite their new laws, the core of Azāstār society remains rooted in strength. Only those who prove their prowess—physically or intellectually—ascend to the rank of Vizier or General.

III. Children of Flames

The Guardians of the Eternal Fire The Azāstār are not merely a race; they are a living barrier against the "unravelling" brought by Ahrigra, the Lord of Frost.

  • The Lord of Fire: They worship Datash (known as Weylan in Poseia), the god who laboured for a millennium to forge the weapons that bound the shadow. Central to their faith is the Eternal Flame, which burns in every temple. However, the Azāstār revile another figure in opposition to Datash, Ahrigra, the personification of evil and Lord of Frost. Ahrigra in the wider pantheon is believed to be a sibling of Eänyr/Enä/Clērātas, who resides in the primordial chaos.

  • The Burden of Choice: Unlike other races who were "made," the Azāstār were "kindled" from the aftermath of battle. They believe Clērātas, who they call Karāratā, granted them absolute free will. Thus, every Azāstār bears total moral responsibility for their actions, they are the masters of their own souls.

IV. Treasures of Uzumzire

The Emerald Merchants Uzumzire is a land of bounty, rich in spices, rare linens, and exotic materials.

  • The Caravans: In recent years, the Azāstār have begun to enter Poseia not as conquerors, but as merchants. Their travelling caravans are increasingly common sights in human cities, where they trade southern luxuries for northern secrets.
