Vaindrop is the name given to a tear-shaped fruit that grows beside moving bodies of water. Vaindrop trees possess a grayed appearance, with cragged bark and drooping twigs. During the late spring and early summer months, these trees flourish with pale blue flowers, which then turn into the aforementioned fruits. As the fruits grow, they weigh down on the branches until they’re close enough to touch the water and eventually drop into it. The fruits float along the current until being deposited somewhere along the bank, where they’ll form a new tree.

Because of their aquatic habitat vaindrops are a common product amongst the riverbank settlements. They are especially sweet and have been used to make blue-colored wines, which are popular in foreign markets. There is also folklore behind the tree’s name. It’s rumoured that before the trees existed, there was a handsome man who was so enamoured by his appearance that he always went to the nearby lake to admire his reflection. A sorceress who lived nearby fell in love with the man, however, he never paid her any attention. Enraged by the man’s disregard for her, the sorceress turned him into a tree. This is why the vaindrop tree is always found leaning over water; it's thought that the man is trying to get a glimpse of his reflection.
