Ættǫrr, known as Ardair to the Yrwinese or Ötirmö to the Vöräälynic, is the Chaotic Good god of exploration, poetry, and wanderers. He is the restless first-born of Varangr and Auðmaer, the "Dreaming God" whose soul yearns for the horizon even while his body is bound to the Isles of Orkfjarr by divine decree. Where Teiws enforces the law of the land, Ættǫrr inspires the lawless curiosity of the heart.

He manifests as a cloaked wanderer with salt in his beard and stars in his eyes, often riding or walking beside a massive Polar Bear. His holy symbol is the Polar Bear set against a blue shield, representing survival and stoic purpose in isolation. Among his followers, navigators, poets, exiles, and heretics, he is the voice that whispers in dreams, urging the stagnant to move and the silent to sing.

Ættǫrr’s influence is found in the charting of unknown lands, the brokering of peace through wisdom, and the "High Ambition" of discovery. He speaks in riddles and verse, valuing the freedom of movement and the power of words to shape reality. His champions are the "Pathmakers," solitary seekers who record lost knowledge and refuse to let any chain, physical or spiritual, remain untested.

In myth, Ættǫrr was the first to defy the gods of Orkfjarr, sailing to Poseia where he discovered the Yrwin. Horrified that his gift of speech and tools sparked a war between the newborn mortals and the immortal Valäälar, he descended into the mountain to forge a covenant of peace with Seppä, the Smith-God. For his "unauthorised" interference and his wanderings, Teiws bound him to the Isles. In retaliation, Ættǫrr used dreams to lure the disloyal tribes of Man away to distant continents, emptying the Isles of those who favoured Teiws’ laws over the "First Roots." He remains on the Shore Beyond, a hall built of shipwreck driftwood, waiting for the Joring, the final winter, when he will finally break his chains and lead the faithful to a hidden haven.
