Era was a proud island kingdom founded in 520 AC by tribes who fled the chaos of the Freelands of the North. Seeking peace, they sailed into the merciless Frozen Ocean and claimed a remote, ice-girded island as their own.

Against all odds, they flourished.
Great longhouses of whale-bone and black stone rose along sheltered fjords. Rune-carved ships hunted leviathans beneath the aurora. Their kings ruled from the towering hall of Situlhold, and for four centuries Era stood as a beacon of order amid the endless winter.

Then, in 920 AC, the Great Frost came.

The people of Era believed it was the Sentinel’s wrath—vengeance for the sacrilege of northern raiders who had plundered sacred mountains generations before. Whether punishment or mere catastrophe, the Frost spared nothing. Glaciers advanced overnight. Rivers froze solid mid-flow. Crops withered beneath eternal night.

One by one, the hearths went dark.

King Osgan Situl, last ruler of Era, led the desperate remnants of his people across the cracking ice to the distant mainland. Behind them, the island kingdom was swallowed by silence.

Today, Era lies abandoned beneath drifting snow and creeping ice. Its shattered towers and frozen harbors are home only to stray Islanders, exiles, and treasure-hunters brave enough to face the Sentinel’s lingering anger.

The ruins of a once-great civilization stand as a frozen monument to the fragility of mortal ambition in the face of the world’s primal guardian.
