The First Age was defined by the Great War — a cataclysm of creation and annihilation. It began when outer forces discovered Vitallia and ended only when the war that scarred every living soul finally ceased. Blood soaked the newborn world as gods and mortals fought side by side. The firstborn of every species were touched by the Sentinel’s blood, granting them unnatural longevity — heroes whose names became legend. When peace finally came, the gods surrendered their claim to the meteor’s essence in exchange for mortal faith. With that pact, the First Age closed and Vitallia stepped into an era ruled no longer by gods, but by its people.

After the Great War, survivors scattered and built the first mortal kingdoms. It was an age of exploration, settlement, and rebirth. Humans claimed the Forklands and the Southern Seas, Dwarves sailed north to Esgolithon, Elves vanished into hidden eastern refuges, and Gargoyles raised their watchful kingdom between the Amber Cell and the Mainland.
As the gods withdrew to their dimensions per the Sentinel’s accord, new threats emerged: dragons tore through Astral Gates, devastating entire regions. The ancient heroes had faded, so new ones rose. From this need was born the Blade Guardians — oath-bound to Vitallia itself, serving no crown, no creed, only the world and its people.

The Third Age saw the return of old fire. Lothen rose under King Norionor Whiteshield, whose March of the Lion briefly united the Mainland beneath one banner. His conquests were glorious but short-lived. After his death, every kingdom armed itself against the next would-be conqueror. Paranoia bred violence; magic was outlawed in the north and its practitioners hunted. Yet fear proved prescient, for whispers grew of an ancient evil stirring once more.

Prophecy dominated the Fourth Age. Laraskul, a survivor of the Great War, foretold Nedel’s escape from the Cell. Four great cities — the Four Daughters — became the bulwarks of mortal resistance. Armies from every corner of Vitallia marched to Exotia where Nedel unleashed his vengeance. In the apocalyptic Battle of the Four Daughters, Nedel was repelled and his essence banished beyond the world. With the ancient evil seemingly gone, mortals turned their eyes westward, hungry to claim the forbidden lands of the Cell.

Today, Vitallia lives in the Fifth Age. Explorers chart new continents, alien races step through rifts, and the Sentinel continues to spawn strange new life. Yet old shadows linger. Sages pore over crumbling scrolls, chroniclers record omens, and every kingdom watches the horizon — for Nedel’s exile, like all exiles before it, may not last forever.
