The Battle of Vlada, fought on 20 October 1001 AC, was the thunderous opening triumph of King Norionor Whiteshield’s March of the Lion—the first roar that announced Lothen’s rise to continental power.

In the scorched, volcanic wastes of Armorgrand, beneath skies blackened by ash, Norionor’s legions assaulted the impregnable fortress of Vlada, last bastion of the dreaded Armorian Hordes.

The Hordes were commanded by two living nightmares:

• Krull the Wolf of the Canyon, a towering warlord whose very name made children weep

• Gur-Ahar, his shaman second, a sorcerer who drank blood and spoke to the lava itself

Their warriors—the Brutgors—were the most feared heavy infantry in all Vitallia: giants in black iron, wielding axes that could split shields like kindling.

Yet Norionor met them not with fear, but with the cold fury of a lion cornered. He turned Armorgrand’s own hellish terrain against its masters—luring Brutgor charges onto crumbling lava shelves, collapsing ash-choked canyons onto their flanks, and striking from the smoke when the Horde believed itself invincible.

The clash was apocalyptic. Rivers of molten rock lit the battlefield crimson as steel rang against iron and sorcery clashed with disciplined fury. When the dust finally settled, Vlada’s gates lay broken, Krull lay dead, and even the dread shaman Gur-Ahar knelt in defeat.

The seemingly invincible Armorian Hordes were shattered. Their surviving Brutgors bent the knee and swore allegiance to the Lion of Lothen, adding their terrifying might to his growing host.

The victory at Vlada sent shockwaves across Vitallia. It was the first, impossible step in one of the greatest military campaigns the world had ever seen—and the moment the legend of Norionor Whiteshield truly began.
