Enar

Overview

The city of Enar stands before the great Lion Mountains, which separate Lothen from Dragoria and Dead Gods Lane. Built along the mountain foothills and surrounded by dense fir forests, Enar is fortified by a tall defensive wall and a rugged landscape of steep roads and jagged rock. Its people are shaped by the harshness of their environment, living under constant threat from mountain lions and raiding hill tribes. Winters fall heavily upon Enar, often isolating it and deepening the dangers its residents must endure, as the distant south frequently forgets their struggles.

History

The settlement now known as Enar began as a fortress called Kalenar, named after its founder Lord Jastin Kalenar—known as The Mountain Lion. A formidable warlord, he defended the northern Lothenian border against both foreign raiders and the beasts of the Lion Mountains.

Recognizing that brute strength alone would not safeguard the realm, Jastin forged alliances with the northern tribes—expert hunters and survivalists who knew every trail and crevice of the mountains. Together they formed the Lionguard, a disciplined force capable of navigating the crags like shadows.

Kalenar grew from a simple stone outpost into a thriving settlement. Blacksmiths and craftsmen settled to support the Lionguard, followed by merchants and families drawn by the stronghold’s protection. Winding paths were carved into the mountainside, slowly connecting the once-remote fortress to the rest of the world.

Though the name eventually changed to Enar, its rugged spirit remained. The banners of the Mountain Lion still fly, its streets echo with the clang of forges, and its people continue to live by the unyielding traditions of their ancestors—hardened by the wild and unwilling to break.

Location

Enar is built upon the slopes of the Lion Mountains, guarding the northern passages that lead into the Lothenian mainland.

Its people endure relentless threats—both natural and human—and grow stronger because of them.
