The city of Othantis is one of the kingdom’s greatest sources of magical power. The Moonstone and the surrounding Moonwoods are regarded as among the most extraordinary discoveries in the known world. Unique vegetation of countless plant species blankets the city, creating a living tapestry of color that reflects and refracts magical light throughout its streets.
At the heart of this spectacle, the Moonstone emits a pale white glow that illuminates Othantis and its surrounding lands. The city is built from red and purple stone, its homes shaped like small towers rising gently from the terrain. Othantis is known for its serenity, discretion, and the reserved nature of its inhabitants.

Othantis was once known as Moongate, a modest settlement of cultists and wizards devoted to studying the Moonwoods and the immense Moonstone. Over time, it attracted pilgrims of the Veil who sought enlightenment near the sacred stone and forest.
As the settlement expanded, it became clear that fortifications were necessary. The Moonwoods were home to numerous dangerous creatures, including a powerful population of werewolves, and the growing city required protection. Thus, Moongate evolved into the fortified city of Othantis.
In the year 880, a devastating curse of Lycanthropy swept through Othantis. Many Rosians were afflicted, driven to madness beneath the full moon, and violence spread throughout the city. While the Moonstone repelled these creatures from its immediate vicinity, its influence weakened between lunar cycles.
Those afflicted often awoke in human form with no memory of their actions. These individuals became known as the Moontouched. Even the slightest suspicion of the curse resulted in forced isolation, with the afflicted bound in silver chains to prevent further tragedy.
This era gave rise to Othantis’s famed tradition of silvercraft, as artisans learned to forge silver weapons, charms, and tools effective against werewolves. In later years, druids and sorcerers worked to understand the curse, developing magical means to detect—and in rare cases reverse—its effects before it fully consumed its host.
Othantis lies south of the Moonwoods, with the River Gatis flowing through the city alongside the Runeroad. The surrounding lands are flat and fertile, dotted with farms that supply the city and nearby trade routes.
Othantis is steeped in mysticism and folklore. Ancient moon worship, cultist rites, and druidic traditions remain deeply embedded in its culture. Many of Rosia’s most skilled druids honed their craft here, drawn by the region’s potent lunar energies.
To the north, the Moonwoods remain largely unexplored, concealing forgotten secrets, forbidden rituals, and creatures born of ancient magic.
