Storm's Rest

Perched at the crossroads between the roads west to Spellwhisk, east to Gentlebreeze, and south toward Concordia, Storm’s Rest thrives as a meeting place of peoples, trade, and tempests. At the edge of the town towards the ocean rises the Stormspire, a lightning-struck tower whose stones still hum faintly with power. Where other towns might have rebuilt or torn it down, Storm’s Rest instead built next to it, turning its crackling presence into a symbol of endurance.

The town itself is known for its Forked Roads Market, a bustling square where caravans from every direction converge. Stalls are draped with road-marked banners—Orange for the Concordian south, Blue for Spellwhisk, Yellow for Gentlebreeze and Green for Velvetglade—creating a living map of commerce and culture.

Two communities define Storm’s Rest: the nimble, clever Foxfolk, and the steady, contemplative Taufolk. Their shared legacy is embodied in the Horn & Tail Alliance, a trade faction that began with wool, horns, and crafts but now guides nearly all mercantile life in the town. Even governance follows this balance, for within Stormwarden Hall, Foxfolk quicksilver rhetoric is always tempered by Taufolk silences, until every voice finds unity.

Overlooking it all stands The Stormbond Shrine, its bronze effigies of fox and bull standing back-to-back against the eternal winds. To the Foxfolk, it honors freedom in the storm; to the Taufolk, resilience against it. Together, it whispers the town’s unspoken creed: Storm’s Rest does not fight the storm, nor flee from it—it lives with it.
