From the worn, dust-covered shelves of the ancient library, You find an book bound in faded leather and etched with strange symbols.
Its pages, yellowed with age, whispered of secrets that few had ever dared to read. And on one such page, the following passage appears:
Narrativization is a strange and wondrous phenomenon that occurs within Storyrealms, where the very essence of the story reaches out to those who step inside. It is a mysterious force, guiding all who enter, that shapes them into parts of the story itself.
Whether it’s a daring voyage with swashbuckling pirates or an epic journey through lands of magic, the narrative’s touch changes those who venture within. It weaves them into the tale, transforming their clothes, weapons, and even the gold they carry to match the world around them. The moment you enter, you become a living part of the unfolding story.
How this happens remains a mystery. Some Keepers believe it is tied to a secret longing within the traveler, the tale sensing what they desire most and reshaping them to fit. Others whisper that unseen forces control it, invisible hands puppeteering each step, each word, with purpose and design.
In these adventures, travelers may encounter reflections of people from their past or from recent thoughts. These reflections, known as Variants or Mythos Echoes, are born from the story itself, perhaps mirroring the traveler’s emotions or memories. In some stories they make even take the role of a character within said story.
The process is beyond understanding, a blend of fate and something far deeper, something beyond words. Within Mythos one does not simply play a part; the part plays you.
