After gathering supplies, Alaric, Ginny, Arvin and the wolves of the Howlbreaker pack shared stories by the campfire about elemental storms and revered idols like Julius, the great warrior. Ramarika offers Alaric a fortune reading which he after some back and forth accepts, Ramarika asks a few unsettling questions, especially when it involves having to keep both Ginny and Arvin safe. Ramarika's fortune reading seems to go an unintended route, as a mysterious blank card starts to glow. Ramarika gives Alaric a mysterious 20-sided die with markings matching each a concept that part of particular religious beliefs. She suggests the die may help Alaric to decide his future and advises him to roll it when the time is right, also mentioning that it could be given to someone else who may need it.

The next morning, The group meet Henry and prepare for their journey with the two horses Nick and Neck, and the group set off on their assignment. As they traveled, they navigated rocky paths and learn about the dark history of the Chambet family, embroiled in a war that led to isolation. Their journey soon turned perilous when they encountered a massive hill giant blocking a vital bridge.

The recruits devised plans to distract the slumbering giant while scouting for its lair, leading them to discover Hyenakin tracks. In a tense yet flirty negotiation, The giant takes a liking to Ginny and they convinced it to join them in battling the Hyenas that threatened its cave, forming an unexpected alliance.

The battle was fierce, with spells and weapons clashing against the hyenakin and their monstrous leader. Despite setbacks, the group fought valiantly and managed to defeat their foes, despite the Hyenakin leader escaping the situation.

Terry the somewhat friendly giant is killed when Ginny uses a growth potion on the giant while they were inside their own cave, causing a cave-in and getting crushed by his own lair. Despite Alaric's desperate attempt to save the Giant, he fails.

After the battle, Henry discovered a stone with a carved message, hinting that if the cave didn't collapse on itself, they might have had found something useful there... Reflecting on their journey so far, the group and Henry are aware that the threats are far from over, with ominous signs indicating the escaped hyenakin may return with more forces...
