The people of Sâdbarad see themselves as protectors of what is left of green land in the Sunfire Expanse. To them, the desert is not a home but a creeping enemy that must be fought back with water, stone, and stubbornness.

Sâdbarad was carved into the cliffs of a fertile river valley, where aqueducts and canals cut through stone like veins. The fortress rises in tiers above the water, its halls capped with domes of blue-glazed tiles that shimmer under the sun. The Great Reservoir, ringed with marble steps, sits at the center as both lifeline and symbol of their defiance against the desert.

Life in Sâdbarad is about feeding the land as much as feeding themselves. Barley fields climb the terraces, orchards root in stone planters, and water flows where the dwarves command it. Their engineers see irrigation not just as survival, but as a covenant with the soil — to keep it fertile, green, and alive. Festivals mark the turning of the seasons, when lanterns float down the canals to thank the ground for giving harvest.

Though they embrace water, the dwarves of Sâdbarad never forget their foundation. They say the rivers are their blood, but the stone beneath is their bones. To them, defending the ways of water is not just a fight against sand, but a way to keep the land itself from dying.
