Backstory:
Son of an eremitic scholar and a divine light, Akello drew his first breath among the silent peaks of the mountains. His mother, once a woman of self-imposed exile, abandoned her solitude shortly after his birth and carried him down to a modest town nestled at the mountain’s base. There, she found work as a lawyer’s secretary, humble, steady, and dignified and raised her son in the rhythm of quiet days and untroubled nights. Akello’s childhood was peaceful, touched by no great tragedies or miracles, yet one shadow lingered on the edge of his thoughts: the question of his father. His mother never spoke of him, and in her silence, the mystery only grew. When death finally came for her, gentle and unresisted, Akello buried her with reverence and left the town that had cradled his youth. The world beyond called to him, not with the promise of glory, but with the need to know. His search carried him through years of wandering, following half-heard whispers and distant trails, until his path brought him to a remote monastery far from the noise of men. There, in its stillness, he mirrored his mother’s loneliness and in that solitude uncovered the truth of his father’s nature. It was within those walls, amid prayer and silence, that Akello embraced his inheritance and pledged himself to the memory of a long-dead god. In doing so, he was no longer merely a seeker, he became a paladin, carrying forward the light and law of one whose voice had faded from the world.
