Baeldun

Old English for Fire / Flame / Funeral Pire (Bael) + Mountain / Hill (Dun)

The island of Baeldun is a focal land, meaning it is connected to the surface plates below the sea, and the core earth itself. This means it does not move, making it easy to find when sailing across the world and, by extension, an ideal trading hub. Being a focal land also means its safety and peace are guarded by the Pact of Protection. This pact has established that all living people of this world agree this island shall come to no harm.

The island is made up of hills and mountains. It is very green, covered in forests and lower laying grasslands. The land itself is roughly divided into four sections, one each overseen by a township and a town speaker.

At its centre stands the dormant volcano known as Midway. The northern and eastern side of the mountain is vibrant and green, covered in lush forests and rich arable lands. The south western sides are much more rocky and bare.
