Trade Bars of Algorand’s Crossing

In addition to standard coinage, Algorand’s Crossing mints trade bars, which are used for high-value transactions, large-scale trade, and diplomatic exchanges. These bars are minted in Dawnwatch Keep and stamped with the city’s official seal to ensure authenticity. They are primarily used by merchants, guilds, and noble houses for transactions too large for individual coins to be practical.

General Characteristics of Trade Bars:

  • Shape: Rectangular, with beveled edges to prevent wear.

  • Size: Approximately 5 inches long, 2 inches wide, and ½ inch thick.

  • Weight: 1 pound (equivalent to 100 gold pieces in value).

  • Material: Gold or platinum alloyed with trace metals for durability.

  • Markings: Stamped with the seal of Algorand’s Crossing, along with a unique serial number to track provenance and prevent counterfeiting.

Types of Trade Bars

Gold Trade Bar ("Dawn Bar")

  • Value: 100 gold pieces

  • Appearance: A deep, lustrous gold, polished to a high sheen. Its edges are engraved with a repeating pattern of rising suns, symbolizing prosperity and stability.

  • Usage: Common among merchants and nobles for large-scale trade, land purchases, and shipbuilding contracts. It is the standard trade bar used in Algorand’s Crossing, Brightwater, and Port Valor.

Platinum Trade Bar ("King’s Ledger")

  • Value: 500 gold pieces

  • Appearance: A bright, silvery sheen with a faint bluish tint, signifying its high purity. It is thinner and denser than the Dawn Bar, with a slightly heavier feel.

  • Usage: Rare and typically seen only in high-ranking guild transactions, noble contracts, and diplomatic tributes. It is often used when negotiating international trade agreements or funding naval expeditions.
