In Elandorel, not all weapons and armor bearing a +1 to +3 enhancement are considered magical in the traditional sense. Rather than being imbued with arcane or divine magic, these finely honed arms reflect the pinnacle of craftsmanship, forged from the rarest materials and tempered through masterful skill. Such items are the pride of legendary smiths, dwarven forgemasters, and elven weaponwrights, renowned not for their spells but for the sheer excellence of their craft.
Weapons and armor of this caliber do not glow with enchantments nor hum with latent power—instead, they are made from materials of exceptional purity, forged through secret techniques passed down through generations. A +1 weapon might be a perfectly balanced longsword, its steel folded and reforged a hundred times to create an edge that never dulls. A +3 shield might be made from the unyielding scales of an ancient wyrm, its very nature making it nearly impervious to harm.
Despite lacking enchantment, these weapons are so refined that they can still strike creatures that require magical weapons to harm them. Their sheer quality, resilience, and craftsmanship allow them to cut through supernatural resistances, as if the force of the smith’s will is embedded in every strike.
These mastercrafted weapons and armor are the foundation upon which true relics are born. Most enchanted items begin as such a work of art before magic is later bound to them—whether through a ritual, a blessing, or the will of a living relic choosing its wielder. This means that many of Elandorel’s greatest artifacts, from storied swords to holy relics, were once mere steel and leather, elevated to legend through history, conflict, and the touch of the arcane.
A Mastercrafted Blade (+2 Longsword, non-magical) is not enchanted, yet it cuts cleaner, strikes truer, and never chips—the result of a smith’s unmatched expertise.

A Bonded Relic (+2 Longsword, magical) might begin as such a blade, but only through use in great battles and deeds does it awaken, gaining abilities tied to its wielder’s destiny.

This distinction ensures that not every fine blade hums with power, yet even without magic, the steel of Elandorel shapes the fate of warriors and legends alike.
